<quoted text>That day will come sooner than you think it will. With a mass exodus of young Kansans from rural areas that encompass 85% of the State, combined with rapidly changing demographics , Kansas will thrust itself into the 21st century whether it likes it or not. Kansas will become virtually dependent on the visa program for immigrant farm workers or face the prospect of losing its status as a top beef and wheat producing state , once a source of great pride. Kansas can remain a model state of what makes America great , but it needs to be a two-party , bipartisan , inclusive state with an eye to the future. Kansas must be ready to break the old mold and return to its roots , based on the premise of its inception in the first place : a fertile , scenic , pure piece of the universe where freedom from corruption , persecution , and deception rings loud and clear.
Agreed; and thank you for a most excellent post.

Since the 2012 election, the right-wing impetus, teabaggery, Brownbackistan, etc. are in decline everywhere. the resentment of low information white voters, tricked into voting against themselves by their racism, classism, xenophobia, heterosexism, fear, and sexism, is withering rapidly. The old right-wing bastards are dying out. The U.S. is becoming like the rest of the world.

Economic realities prevent resurrection of a prosperous small town culture of the 1880s to 1920s from ever returning. Outside of the metro areas, Kansas is dying. Minorities moving in can be our economic salvation. The military certainly can't - Fort Riley is an outpost of a bloated military which, in part thanks to the sequester, has outlived its usefulness.

The conversion of Ohio's Republican Senator Rob Portman to favoring same sex marriage is a cautionary tale. As recently as five years ago, to take such a position would have been political suicide in a place like Ohio, the home base of such characters as George Babbitt and small town rock-ribbed Republicanism. Now, Portman had to change positions for his political survival. As Ohio goes, so goes Kansas a few years later.

Brothers Moran and Roberts are going to have to make gestures for their own political survival. Despite right-wing votes on high profile issues, both are tempermentally moderates not unlike Bob Dole and Nancy Landon Kassebaum. You'll notice both keep a low profile on the hot button social issues and leave the heavy lifting of throwing red meat to the base to nutjobs like Huelskamp and Pompeo. While both are vulnerable in primaries their lack of prominence leaves them vulnerable otherwise too.

It's going to be a very interesting next few years. I've been surprised myself at the rapid pace of social change.

I guess you didn't read you own post.

How are you doing Dan? Haven't seen you posting from your Smithville ISP in some time. You usually use your proxy servers or a device that masks your ISP. You haven't used any of your registered clones in a while either.

You aren't missed on the MO Senate thread that is for sure, but I think you are posting there under a different name. I understand your shame. If I were you, I wouldn't want people to know who I was either, but then I am not so stupid as you and have never posted my real identity. That sure was funny.

Well, I hope you rot in your own misery. Take care.
