This subject was brought up by the people at the coalfield for one reason! To have people fight and go on about a topic that means nothing what so ever. It works in the favor of a few to have the rest of us fighting over crap like this! Divide the people.

Bill Gilliam has had great success and is second to none in terms of past and present LPD coaches. I will admit he has never been a LPD head coach but he always gets the job done. He will be a head coach soon. Everybody knows the head coach always gets more credit than he or she deserves. He has been known to take his time and produce greatness. Good luck at Science Hill Coach Gilliam. I am sure they will win a state championship once he has shared his knowledge and given one of his famous pre game motivational speeches.
. Would have loved to have coach Gilliam on my staff at UCLA!

the only reason phil won what he did is because of thomas and julius. It wasn't his coaching skills that made them great. They were natural athletes....Count the championships after julius left if you dont believe me.

Mack Shupe without a doubt. Best LPD baseball coach this area has ever seen.

The school had four before the Jones, 3 with Phil, 1 with Bolling. Powell Valley was blessed with lots of talent and good coachs.

PV should have won in 04 also, had it not been for the decisions made from a Dad's perspective and not a coach's perspective because of who was in the crowd watching a certain quarterback that day. Doesnt take a genius to figure out that its hard to outrun a bunch of black boys who were not only faster but had 2 weeks to prepare to stop the pass. yes, the same could be said for PV having 2 weeks to stop zach terrel i know. All PV had to do was run the ball, hell the QB could have got his spotlight running just the same.

and to be on topic: Phil has the numbers, is lord of the rings, has a Cadillac, a statue, and was in the paper gettin his hair cut, like a boss.

Also, Be cool to see his son coachin down here with Tom's son.

No contest. Colby Dean!!!!! He is a 3x state champ and going for his 4th. Never been done around here in any sport that I know of. Also he is a heck of a football player. He should get his 1000 yds this season easily if jimbo gives him a chance. Go raiders!!!!! Lpd champs for sure.
