Just a few comments about the Fitness Five gym...

It's one thing for people to over-charge members for fees and monthly dues ($20 to sign up and $35 monthly).

And, it's one thing for them to charge members to use broken down equipment, some of which doesn't actually work (like the treadmills).

And, it's one thing to charge members to use a gym where they don't actually have any staff working 95% of the time.

And, it's one thing to have constant reminders come up on their tv's that their satellite service is about to be disconnected if they don't pay their bill.

But, when they get to the point of asking members to donate money to buy refills for the water cooler, they've reached a new low.

I know the economy is tough and all business are having a tough time, but over-charging your customers and then asking them to donate is just not cool.

And you posting this on Topix isn't an all new low for you? Im sure you trying to smear this business's reputation is realy going to do any good. Im sure if more people would donate money to help with the "free" water and the "free" tv and "free" satelite radio, they could place those funds elsewhere to repair equipment. If you can do better open your own fitness center and show us. Don't be a gossip queen.

Why should customers donate to a business after they've already paid for the goods or services? What if customers went to the local grocery store and paid $150 for their groceries, and then the store asked for donations to pay their electric bill? What if Wal-Mart asked everyone to donate $5 for parking every time customers came to their store?

There's a difference between operating a business and running a charity.

Since when did u ever need someone working there to help u workout? Lets be honest I'm there 5 days a week and the equipment works fine. As far as donating $$, I can understand how strange that is. But its life-if u don't like it find another gym.

Martinez is immature but also, most guys his age are just like him. At least u can tell he works out haha big ass F'n dude

Go pick shit up, put it up and don't worry about what anyone else is doing. Pretty simple. I go there several times a week and no one has bothered me about donating. I just hope they have some form of heat this winter..other than that I can't complain. Maybe you need to man up and talk to Jay if you're so disgruntled.

If you don't like it there, then stop going. Nobody is forcing you to do anything. It's your money man. But getting on a public forum and bashing the place is childish and petty.

I go there 3-4 times a week. There are things about it I'd like to see changed, sure. But overall, It's not a bad place to work out.

And they don't ask for donations......they just ask you to pay for the bottles of water you drink. Is that really to much to ask?? I have no problem with it, nor does anyone else I know. You seem to just be a crybaby, suck it up, tuck your vagina in and get that money....or find somewhere else to lift. Simple as that.
