What a great man he was. I was lucky enough to be in the last class he taught at Northport H.S. in 1980-81
(A.P. American History), and I will never forget his engaging instruction or the inspirational message he wrote in my yearbook.

I just learned of Mr Streb's death. He was the best and most inspiring teacher I had through high school and one of the 2 best teachers I ever had through 19 years of education. He is the reason I love history, majored in american history and became a lawyer. Unfortunatly I never told him. I wish I had. I agree with LarryN--he was a great man.

I knew Dick when he lived in Rochester, NY for a short time in the 1990's.
Last year when I was in Nicaragua a young man (about 30 maybe), came up to me at a musical performance and asked me if I knew Dick Streb.
He said that Dick saved his life... and this young man spoke this in perfect English (which he learned wih Dick's help). He told me that if it had not been for Dick he would have killed himself.
Instead he is a gem of a man, and a wonderfully talented writer and musician.
Thanks Dick... Jeannie

I know the guy- he is a famous musician in Holland now. I had the opportunity to translate a few courses for Mr. Streb, he was an inspiration for many of us in Nicaragua.
Mr.Streb along with Peter White have changed lives. They changed mine.
