Where did the story that Jesus was crucified come from?

It appears to have resulted from a number of sources.

Firstly there were three historical characters during the Roman period who people thought were Messiahs and who were crucified by the Romans, namely Yehuda of Galilee (6 C.E.), Theudas (44 C.E.), and Benjamin the Egyptian (60 C.E.). Since these three people were all thought to be the Messiah, they were naturally confused with Yeishu and ben Stada.

Yehuda of Galilee had preached in Galilee and had collected many followers before being crucified by the Romans. The story of Jesus' ministry in Galilee appears to be based on the life of Yehuda of Galilee. This story and the belief that Jesus lived in Nazareth in Galilee, reinforced each other.

The belief that some of Jesus' disciples were killed in c. 44 C.E. by Agrippa appears to be based the fate of Theudas's disciples. Since ben Stada had come from Egypt it is natural that he would have been confused with Benjamin the Egyptian. They were probably also contemporaries. Even some modern authors have suggested that they were the same person, although this is not possible since the stories of their deaths are completely different.

In the New Testament book of Acts, which uses Josephus's book Jewish Antiquities (93 - 94 C.E.) as a reference, it is made clear that the author considered Jesus, Yehuda of Galilee, Theudas and Benjamin the Egyptian, to be four different people. However, by that time it was too late to undo the confusions which had already taken place before the New Testament was written, and the idea of Jesus' crucifixion had become an integral part of the myth.

<quoted text>Isn't kind of strange that Jesus never personally baptized anyone?
Do you remember what happened to the wicked witch in the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy threw water on her ?? She dissolved and disappeared.

Water destroyed her, and the same thing happens to false Gods like Jesus Christ. He never baptized anyone, and if you think about it, he never walked in the rain.

But, when they put the body in the cave, it was really damp in there. There was water dripping from the ceiling. You guessed it. That is exactly what happened to the body, it got soaking wet, dissolved, and was gone when folks came back.

Thus the whole myth of Christianity is based on a body that melted and was absorbed into the earth, the floor of the cave, and did NOT arise in rebirth.

These Christians are in for a rude awakening.

The truth is normally a beautiful, positive thing, but it simply destroys the myth of Christianity.

Science is not really concerned with proving that man evolved from monkeys.

Science tries to find truth and determine the sequence of events that resulted in what we now know as mankind, and, also other species.

The great thing about science and scientists is that they willingly go back and correct previous conclusions. Science is NOT afraid of truth.

Religion, on the other hand, constantly invents new lies to support the old lies and deceits that stand as the basis for religious thought.

The Bible's story of the origin of mankind is so childish and fanciful that few sensible individuals even consider it as possible. Religious zealots who insist that some supreme being created all in six days, and mankind from dust, etc., simply show themselves to be somewhat stupid and intellectually challenged.

One of the sad results of this is, that after seeing this beginning in the words of the Bible, one is apt to question and possibly dismiss all that follows as similar fancy. There is good within the words of the Bible of Judaism.

Christians such as you, Bill, or James Terry, or whatever name you may use, increase the need for others to doubt Christianity with your personal lies and deceits.

Your false claims to be able to heal others are seen as lies by most all. Some of the less intelligent among your flock may believe. Reasonable people know this to be an untruth, a lie.

Like most preachers, ministers, and priests, you, James Terry, are a charlatan, a fake, a liar and deceiver.

The Bible definition of a Christian is someone who has INVITED JESUS CHRIST to enter his/her heart, and in whose heart Jesus lives, thru His Holy Spirit [Romans 8:9].

Do You Have an Invitation?
by Keith Butler

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose" (Rom. 8:28 KJV).

I will show you two categories of individuals that are invited to live a life of peace and joy in the Lord. The first is found in Romans 10:13. The second is found in Matthew 11:28. Let's take a closer look.

Romans 10:13 says, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Whosoever means whoever. So the first category of individuals is whoever calls on the name of Jesus. Are you a whosoever? Of course you are. You are the one that has been invited. You are the one to whom God is saying, "Come on into the House of the Lord."

The second category we will look at is found in Matthew 11:28: "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest...." That word "labor" means those that feel fatigued and work hard. Have you ever been fatigued, and feel as though you work so hard?

Jesus is talking to you. If you've ever been over-burdened then you are invited to come to Jesus. He has reserved rest just for you. That is, He has ease, relief and refreshment for all that labor and are overburdened from working so hard.

When the pressures of life seem to beat your down, then you can go to God in prayer, in the wonderful name of Jesus. And when you go to Him and pray in the Spirit, or pray in other tongues you could say, then all things will work out for your good. Hence, ease, relief and refreshment comes to whoever calls on the name of the Lord.

All things will cooperate because you are praying in the Holy Ghost, allowing Him to pray God's perfect will about that situation. And if all things are cooperating then whatever is required to happen will happen. If the weather has to cooperate, then it will.

If other people have to cooperate, then they will. If money has to cooperate then it will. All things must cooperate to benefit you. The way it happens is that through your prayers, God comes in and manipulates anything or anybody, or does whatever is necessary, in order to bring a benefit to you.

GOD CREATED CHILDREN (AND IN THE PROCESS GRANDCHILDREN)

To those of us who have children in our lives,
whether they are our own,
grandchildren,
nieces,
nephews,
or students...
here is something to make you chuckle.

Whenever your children are out of control,
you can take comfort from the thought that
even God's omnipotence did not extend
to His own children.

After creating heaven and earth,
God created Adam and Eve.

And the first thing he said was
' DON'T !'

'Don 't what ?'
Adam replied.

'Don't eat the forbidden fruit.'
God said.

'Forbidden fruit ?
We have forbidden fruit ?
Hey Eve..we have forbidden fruit !'

' No Way !'
'Yes way !'

'Do NOT eat the fruit !'
said God.

'Why ?'

'Because I am your Father and I said so !'
God replied,
wondering why He hadn't stopped
creation after making the elephants

A few minutes later,
God saw His children having an apple break
and He was ticked !
'Didn't I tell you not to eat the fruit ?'
God asked.

'Uh huh,'
Adam replied.

'Then why did you ?'
said the Father.

'I don't know,'
said Eve.
'She started it!'
Adam said.

'Did not !'
'Did too !'
'DID NOT !'

Having had it with the two of them,
God's punishment was that Adam and Eve
should have children of their own.
Thus the pattern was set and it has never changed.

If you have persistently and lovingly tried to give children wisdom and
they haven't taken it,
don't be hard on yourself.

If God had trouble raising children,
what makes you think it would be
a piece of cake for you ?

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT !

1. You spend the first two years of their life
teaching them to walk and talk. Then you spend
the next sixteen telling them to sit down and shut up.

2. Grandchildren are God's reward
for not killing your own children.

3. Mothers of teens now know why
some animals eat their young.

4. Children seldom misquote you.
In fact,
they usually repeat word for word
what you shouldn't have said

5. The main purpose of holding children's parties
is to remind yourself that there are children
more awful than your own

6. We childproofed our homes,
but they are still getting in.

ADVICE FOR THE DAY:

Be nice to your kids.
They will choose your
nursing home one day

AND FINALLY:

IF YOU HAVE A LOT OF TENSION
AND YOU GET A HEADACHE,
DO WHAT IT SAYS
ON THE ASPIRIN BOTTLE:

'TAKE TWO ASPIRIN'
AND 'KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN'!!!!!

Quick,
send this on to ten people
within the next five minutes.
Nothing will happen if you don't,
but if you do,
ten people will be laughing

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Leo

The atmosphere is highly combustible today, with people getting in a stew over the smallest little thing. You will also have a tendency to get hot under the collar, especially if someone isn't doing things as quickly as you'd like. Try to stop yourself getting in a rage because once that happens it will be difficult to cool down again. Maybe you need some fresh air?
