I find it amazing, with all the high tech, gee whiz crap floating around, we still can't get power grid issues straight, yet!
Wait till we get slammed w/a CAT 5 hurricane, you ain't seen nothing yet!
Although I detest the man as he is just another vote grabbing politico, Dennis Levinson hit the nail on the head and said something I have been calling for, for years, put the damn power lines under ground, like the upscale ritzy folk have in their communities and that will be the end of the problem, forever!
It is unsafe arcane, antiquated, not to mention dengerous, to have high tension power lines suspended over our heads, just waiting for the next big blow to come along and kill more people!

Was poking around old posts and came across this one from Bob. He spoke of a CAT 5 hurricane and the impact it would have. Now we got Sandy bearing down on us and yet again, we'll all be puunged into the dark for an undetermined amount of time and what have the utilities done to prevent a reoccurance of this? Nothing! Never proactive, just reactive! This one amounts to the "hundred year storm" everyone has been blowing about and projected "outages" will impact tens of million people. Think the Board of Public Utilities better get on these utilities backs and tell them to come up with a plan of action, quick, although too late now, of course!
