OK, clearly this guy exercised extremely poor judgement that should merit him some fines and stiff community service time. But FELONIOUS conduct? Nonsense.

At 18, he's either still in the same school as the other kids that came or he just graduated. Either way he's still their peer, not an outside corrupting influence. I think continuity of contact should be taken into account in a case like this.

When I think of "getting tough on crime", this is not what I have in mind. It isn't like this behavior hasn't been cannonized as a teen right of passage in countless films and TV shows. Talk about mixed messages.

Are you kidding me? This is what the Tribune now considers newsworthy?

Seriously?

I can't say anything about the Northbrook police because they were obviously doing there job, but the Trib reporting on it is a sure sign that the editor there needs to be replaced!

As a Northbrook resident (despite what this joke of a bulletin board says), one has to commend the local teenagers for their consistency. NOT.

At least they were not hazing girls in the woods.

Just the logical conclusion for kids with too much time on their hands and parents out of town. Risky Business was, what?, 25 years ago? I'm sure this will not be the last booze party that we ever hear about. Keep in mind, that while Mr. Shakir may still be in high school, he has reached the age of majority, and is of age to be charged as an adult for crimes he has committed. Something for all Seniors in high school to keep in mind this Prom Season.

This kid's name sounds somewhat foreign?... Can't wait for Fox News contributor John Kass's column tomorrow to learn about his connection to Senator Obama and, of course, the 'Combine.'

Next time the Tribune publishes articles about how staff is getting cut, you can look at quality work like this, and thank yourselves for being out of a job.
At least the parents where smart enough not to be there.

Are you kidding me??? So a high school student threw a party at his house (his 'parents' house) with alcohol there, and he is getting charged with a felony?? Are you f'ing kiding me!?!? This is one reason why I will not bring a child into this world - they can't even have a little fun anymore.

The Trib should be ashamed that this is considered news. I'm learning that it isn't Tribune News unless Rev. Wright is involved in the story.

seriously, a teenager having a drinking party? this is the news that makes the chicago tribune? if my parents went to dinner, a mile away, in the eighties and early ninties there would be a keg at our house... and there would be no trace of a party by the time they got home 5 hours later. we were smart, and no one ever got into an accident! teenagers WILL drink! what's next for the tribune? You're absolutely right. The Liberal nanny state has now made "Risky Business" a felony.
