Grafitti and young gang members

A few years back I remember the topic of gangs and things came up in the forums and was on peoples lips around Terre Haute. And the possibility of drug dealers came up. Some people, including law enforcement people denied it like it wasn't going on. And I saw in todays paper that they arrested 22 drug dealers. Good Lord. Years ago, about 16 I would say I moved to town and lived on 14th street, a block off Wabash. It was so lovely. I could sit on my porch and drink coffee and watch the warm sun come up in the morning. It was safe, and I felt safe. The day I moved, not too long ago, drug dealers lived across the street and the prostitutes worked openly right across the street from where I lived. It was no longer safe to sit on my porch. I was fearful of drive bys. I had been robbed by a home invasion. It is really a sad situation now. I used to think it was the fault of the police that all these things was happening. I am not so sure anymore. I think better parenting is in order for the grafitti. But what of those drug dealers? Most of them were in their 30's and 40's. Only a couple in their 20's. I still own property in Terre Haute. I am willing to pay to keep the drug dealers in jail for longer terms. If I have to pay in taxes, then so be it.
