They should perform more of those near that rail yard and intersection. Many stupid drivers also speed to get over the tracks to avoid the train. I have often seen pedestrians cross through a sitting train by climbing through connected train cars.

Well to be honest some of us in this cockblocked town still HAVE to get places at certain times and Im not talking about our Meth dealer. When it comes to my JOB or a meeting or "risking" a situation that would prevent me from making appointments Ill take that risk every time. Crossings are a disaster if you are actually on a schedule. This record profit business that CSX is in is still receiving Federal Subsidies. RECORD profits and taking my money AND making me late?

Have you tried leaving 15 minutes earlier or taking another route?

Yes, and thank you for the generous advice, it makes no difference. Some are better than others but the unpredictable course of these things make it impossible to predict. I hope you remember this suggestion next time you get railroaded (likely in the next hour). Dont get upset- you should have planned more thoroughly.

Monty you need to take other persons advice and leave earlier. Cause one day you might not make it and then you will miss every meeting. I do agree with u on some things there is way to many trains in this town and if the railroad police want to stop people then they need to be fined for blocking an intersection to long I think they only have so long to block a crossing. I know they stop students on ISU campus for crossing on foot not at a crossing.

Not a resident of your county, don't work in the middle of town either. When I do visit Terre Haute I KNOW I will be railroaded and yes, I do plan for it.

Why the hell are you people defending the railroad? I live in the North end and am literally less than 5 minutes away from work. Sometimes it takes 20 minutes to get there.

Congratulations, you dont live here and you dont work here, why are you even commenting? I do fast business all day inside of Terre Haute requiring me to be across town, back and forth all day long--You know NOTHING about what we go through. I guess if when I go to Chicago 4 times a year I too could plan for a long wait on the Eisenhower if I was arriving at 5 as you PLAN your trips to Terre Haute. You comenting on this subject makes about as much sense as me arguing the cost effectiveness of a Supercolider.

What is fast business ? Is this a way of justifying you speeding all over town putting kids and the public in danger?

My guess is he's that impatient and self important guy who is always speeding, lane changing, bumper riding, hand gesturing, risk taking, hazard causing, cell phone talking, self absorbed jerk who thinks the world was made for him alone and he is not required to obey rules, use caution, be considerate or compromise from time to time.
Figure it out buddy, the world is full of people and everyone one of us has to fit in with the rhythm of daily life. Learn to go with the flow and you won't be so agitated.

I comment because I can - it's a PUBLIC forum.
Visits or other reasons to come to Terre Haute happen frequently so it isn't like it's rare to be there and yes I do know what you "suffer" because of the trains. I also see the rest of the world suffers because of your egocentricity. Be grateful that you CAN drive all over town all day and let little annoyances stay little.

Oh my God. Egocentric? Really? Its a FORUM, be reminded that Im free to state my feelings Im pissed because a Government subsdized-record profit making industry is harming my bottom line? Harming it to the tune of $1000's annually considering that I have numerous vehicles on the road... WORKING! That is hardly egocentric. Im grateful for a number of things, driving doesnt happen to be one of them. Im also grateful that my egocentric ass gives to the tune of roughly 10% to local charities to help those that are "suffering" truly. Im done having this conversation with you because obviously you have nothing better to do than shoot holes in any sort of sense that I try to make out of this ridiculous ordeal that we live with over here--

This guy has a very legitimate complaint. I get railroaded all the time. When I do, I leave earlier the next day only to find that CSX left early too! They are unpredictable. This city is "locked in" because of the tracks. There are no alternate routes in some areas. It a nuisance and a testament to our leaders that any community worth a hill of beans has re-routed their tracks and we still have not.

What about EMS? I wonder how many folks have died in the back of an ambulance that was railroaded? How many assault calls were delayed because of the trains? How many homes were lost to fire because the closest fire engine got railroaded?

If these Bozos are making so much money it is not because they are doing anything right in this area.
