It's about time someone with some education got involved. Looks like they are coming anyway. The local govt let a great thing go one time and it won't happen again. Move out of the way Tazewell Co stupidvisors here comes the State Of Virginia backed by the Federal Government.

I GUESS YOU GREENIES DONT CARE ABOUT VISUAL POLLUTION. IF YOU PUT THOSE UGLY THINGS ON EAST RIVER OR ANY OTHER MOUNTAIN TOP YOU WILL SEE THEM FOR MILES AND MILES. THEY WONT STOP AT JUST A FEW, THEY INSTALL MANY. WE HAVE THEM HERE IN THE WEST. THEY REALLY MESS UP THE SCENERY, YOU HAVE THE HUGE PROPELLERS ALL OVER AND THE POWER LINES AND ROADS TO THEM. I DONT MIND A SMALL ONE ON YOUR LAND BUT THE BIG ONES ARE AN EYESORE. THEN THE POWER COMPANY CHARGES EVEN MORE FOR THE GREEN POWER. IF YOU ELECT TO PAY FOR WIND POWER THEY GLADLY CHARGE YOU MORE FOR IT. WHAT A JOKE, DONT LET THEM IN. THE BEAUTIFUL MOUNTAIN SCENERY WILL BE DESTROYED.

Good change my arse, Dominion Power paid off some senators to allow these eye-sores into our county. NONE of the energy produced by these windmills will go to local people, nor will any of the profit..... Only thing we get is a destroyed mountain-top.

Go back to Northern Virginia and quit raping our land!!

You guys/gals are right. Give them one and there will be a bunch more. I dont want to look at it and don't really see any jobs other than the initial esvavating and construction. All temporary jobs. There will be a few contracting technicians to tweek the blades and grease stuff when its needed. Other than that. It will just be kickbacks to the people that run it... manage it... and give the payments to the power companies for a feat
her in their cap. There will be no benefit to anyone here.

Why not be a huge part of the future and be a leader. The government should make some deals that Tazewell County benefit and help with the cost of the power bills. Wake up and stop being stupid over something on the mtn like this....i mean there are flashing tower light and that hasn't bothered the view! Go turbine Bring them on!

do you all not see that this whole area looks like crap anyways. We need change with out it we fall behind. It may not be a great thing but it is something. Go look in larger citys if they stop something they dont like all those things that will help the area wont come. So shut up, grow up an quit trying to leave the area more depressed. Im not a green person an im not someone who is even important, but i am one more voice whos seen the world an knows what its like to be in a larger area an there is so much more to life than that mtn top im sure if they were gonna build a mall or target you would be all for it

When this all first started board of supervisors passed a law that you a citizen could not have one of these on your own property. This was just fine with them and did not understand why people would be upset by that. Now that someone of higher power is going to make it possible they are upset. See how we feel now supervisors. Like we have no rights, doesnt feel good, does it?

I would suggest everyone watch the documentary windfall. I was for these at one point but I have a friend who is in this industry and he says if we switch to windmills our power rates will skyrocket because concrete, steel and aluminum are not getting any cheaper. It takes 1600 windmills to equal 1 nuclear power plant and each windmill requires 4 acres of land. The same people who ripped off people with mineral rights are pushing these monstrosities.

Really people? Half of you never even look at the mountains or you'd see the towers for the power lines and all the blinking towers. And you're worried about windmills? Shoot we need something that stands a chance to bring some jobs to this area. Look around people, there aren't any good paying jobs around here anymore. And Tazewell county isn't doing anything to bring any good jobs here. Fast food jobs and Walmart just isn't cutting it. No wonder all the kids leave this area.

Bob's 100% correct. You're completely oblivious if you think this will benefit us in anyway. Why? Well, why do you think our country is not already reliant on renewable energy resources? It's EXPENSIVE, and simply NOT economical when there are so many cheaper alternatives. At the expense of our mountain tops, the power will be sold off to the highest bidder and the only benefits will be in someones pocket. It will not affect your electricity bill what-so-ever.
