Monroe shops for big-box store for North Kelsey development

Wal-Mart may be coming to town. Monroe city leaders are talking with a developer about building a big-box store on a former gravel processing site at the intersection of Chainlake Road and N. Kelsey Street.

Thank you!! We have wanted a Wal-Mart for years. Everyone in town I know has said this over and over. Fred Meyer is over priced and has tried to keep competition out from a previous effort by Wal-Mart a fews years ago.

I say welcome Wal-Mart.. p1ss off Fred Meyer.

I THINK FRED MEYER IS WAY OVER PRICED AND WAL MART WILL HELP OUT THIS COMMUNITY WITH JOBS AND GREAT DEALS I SAY PUT WAL MART IN!

Fred Meyer may be over priced, however Wal-Mart will kill the local businesses and hurt this economy more than it will help it.

Let's also stop and think about the TRAFFIC that will be generated. People are already pissed about the traffic problems in town, and now you want to add Wal-Mart traffic to it?

Lastly this town is struggling with it's identity, bringing in a Wal-Mart will only hurt it more than help it. Let's raise the standards here. Give the kids something to do... a bowling alley perhaps, mini golf, something to DO not something to BUY. We have three grocery stores already, 5 starbucks yet nothing to keep our children and younge adults occupied.

I've lived in this town for 10 years and would like to see something to DO, and NOT Wal-Mart.
