This is a cat. Two hundred taers ago if you supported this cat you would be tar and feathered fo being witch. This is cat not a human. Today civil rights for humans are a myth and cats have rights. More greedy generation bs. This cat gets more respect than children. Is it because cats go to a human society and humans go to h-ll a jail. The nonon human group of non humans. This would not happen in a civilized society.

From his FB...."o: what happened? Did the kitty go all naughty o you? o-o ^_^"

Makes me wonder if he was sexually abusing the cat. I completely agree with "Serial killer in the making"! Remember his name...people will look back and think "why didn’t we do anything". This is how it all starts!

I know someone will adopt this cat and give it a life it deserves. Props to the St Paul police for taking animal cruelty serious. Yes it is not a human....but animals do deserve the right to be treated with respect.

As much as I hate seeing a helpless animal get tossed around as the next person, I don't think "locking him up" is the best solution. The jail are already overcrowded and if I had a choice I'd rather reserve that spot for the sex offenders and the other jack-offs of the world. Seems like the liquor is his problem so require a rehab and a big fine but save the cots and cement walls for the real harden criminals.
I totally agree that our jails are over crowded. However, the issue is that, included as part of the profiles of some of the most violent killers and abusers that are part of the criminal justice system, animal cruelty or killing of animals is one of the early signs of a future of extreme violence. This character needs some serious psychotherapy, drug and alcohol treatment, fines and some time in the work house. I hope the sweet kitty finds some gentle people to live with.

Sorry to veer off the subject, but this headline is hilarious! Seems like the classic "Throw the Cow Over the Fence Some Hay!" But, seriously, this kitty needs some TLC. If I didn't live so far away, I'd be happy to add him to my menagerie.

I think we just castrate him - along with all the other sexual offenders and some of the other criminals. This way at least they can't procreate. It may mellow them out a bit too.

The big deal is that he was torturing it. There's a big difference between shooting them dead and just hurting them for the fun of it.

Not a fan of cats - but heartbroken at the thought of any animal, including a cat, being mistreated. And not just by accident, but planned? Drunk at 5am? Yeah, that's normal...Released from jail most likely because the justice system allows it. The guy clearly has a history of violence. I'm sure his next move will be much more drastic. Hoepfully when he kills someone we can come up with a case to LOCK HIM UP...

Once again what is wrong with people? I am ashamed by some of the comments made on here and only make me think a few of you out there need help as well. The guy should have never brought the cat in if he was not a normal human being. I will never understand why people hurt animals or children for that matter. They have no defense and rely on us to care for them and love them. I know this cat will get a good home and as for this scum bag...KARMA!

I'm making a donation to Caring for Cats today. I've never heard of them before, but I'm grateful there's a no kill shelter for cats in the twin cities. There are many, many cats needing homes. Too bad Ophelia ended up with this dangerous jerk. Instead of buying a few stocking stuffers, why not send a donation to this shelter, if you're able?

One might fast forward this scenario and visualize what might happen when Donahue gets out of jail and sees his roommate again...?
