Cops break up check forgery ring; 13 charged

At least 13 people have been charged in a check forgery scheme allegedly hatched by a state of Minnesota employee with a methamphetamine habit.

"Good job!" to the employee at City & County Credit Union who noticed the check was no good. I'm confused by the number of people that were ultimately involved. When it comes to stealing money, I thought thieves didn't like to share to take. They must have had very happy meth dealers.

The article said she resigned over a year ago when confronted with the allegations. The union would not provide a lawyer for criminal charges. Depending on her length of employment this may allow her to collect pension benefits at some point. It depends on if she left her contributions in or took an immediate payout upon resigning. An immediate payout is only for the employee's contributions and they lose any state contributions. If fired she would have lost any chance of collecting pension benefits in her 60's. It seems she should of been fired but it can save an employer a lot of hassle if the employee just resigns.

I do agree with the majority of your post, except you have overlooked one very important point. It will be very hard for them to hang themselves in prison when Minnesota has this "thing" against sending people to prison. Like many others that the Pioneer Press reports on, they will or possibly already have rap sheets two feet long.
