Let's face it... The rebates were too high in price. If they spread it around a little more, more appliances would have been sold to more people, and there wouldn't have been as big a mad dash.

Now we'll see the mad dash to the retailers for what we would think is limited inventory. Don't lose hope, wait-list denizens.

I agree. For those of us who work, it was hard to get through.
Why did people have to go thru this step? Why not just have them go to appliance place and buy the item and have buyer do paperwork or have lottery for vendors on who gets some money to hand out.

As a taxpayer, I didn't qualify for the car rebate, and did not get in on this, alot of us are barely middle class and trying to get by, when do we benefit?

I agree, sadly it was even worse than cash for clunkers.

The way the rebates were handled is appalling , typical bureaucratic mess and to add insult to injury we the people provide their paychecks!!!!!!!!!!

Just another promise of change that ends with broken dreams and a busted budget. The people that are helped are the ones that do not need it. I tried calling that number for 12 hours yesterday. Just another govt program that I do not qualify for. Cash for clunkers: no money for a new car payment, Homeowners Tax Credit: already boughtmy home in 2007 for way too much money. Dead. Appliamce Rebate: No one answers the phones. Dead for me.Thanks OBAMA. Lets vote out the pigs in 2012. Enough is enough people. Throw out the incubments.

Find out the contractor that set-up that website and fire them and any state employee that had anything to do with it. If this is the best the State can do
with 5million I hope they are not given anything else to handle. This State could not run a pay toilet.

These programs, like "cash-4-clunkers" expose an ugly side of human nature. I wonder if this administration enjoys watching people perform like circus monkeys to get the treat. It's undignified, it's disgusting, and like all government programs, it's mismanaged and miscalculated.

we should just go ask our tax paying neighbors for the rebate amount. That would have been a lot easier. what is the point of this? It feels like a bait and switch...

if you don't like the fact that the $5 mil wasn't spread thinly enough, then I would understand. but your complaint makes no sense. the problem was that there were too many people who wanted the rebate. how would have making a better equipped website, or having more phone operators, created any more opportunities for you to get a rebate? the money simply would have been gone even sooner.
keep crying and blaming government for your problems...

What? How do you know that?...Oh, what you really meant was, "the people that are helped aren't me, so its not fair." I see.

What is frustrating is that some people were using this to replace a relatively modern, working appliance. I have a 33 year old washer that practically dims the lights when it turns on. That is the kind of appliance this rebate was intended for. They should have had a better criteria for who qualifies. This was like trying to be the 10th caller to win a radio contest.

Money borrowed from China given to Minnesotans so they can buy product manufactured in Mexico, China or South Korea so that in the end, we save a couple of kilowatts. Brilliant.

Or have a lottery. Keep submission open for a week. Every submits interest in the first week, and then run a lottery among those names. It isn't rocket science, and doesn't require an especially large server capacity.
