A unity of spirit on 9/11

Full story: TwinCities.com

As I drove to Roseville Sept. 11, I noticed the flashing lights on a series of police cars driving south on I-35E and turning east on Highway 36.

The recent town hall meetings, the bickering and sniping by both parties regarding health care reform and the general contentious attitudes in DC show the need for a 3rd major party.

Uner out current 2 party system, whoever is not in power will do anything to keep the current party inpower from succeeding. The party in power will do whatever it takes to remain in power. There is no regards as to what is right for our country and it's citizens. It's not even in their agendas.

A 3rd party would keep ANYONE from being in power. Compromise and discussion will be mandated because of that. It's the only way things will change in the Congress.

Debra L. Kaczmarek, Rosemount, said in part "Increasingly — in areas from health care to food safety to budgets — our legislators seem to be taking the nightmarish IRS code as their model. And that is a very bad thing for everyone except the lawyers."

I believe we need to pass a constitutional amendment, both state and federal, barring lawyers from running for office on the basis that it is a conflict of interest. Those who create the laws belong to the fraternity that make their fortunes from the laws. They make them fuzzy on purpose to perpetuate the lawsuits to debate their intent.

Barbara Sarapas, St. Paul, said in part, "I can see only one difference in this Democratic president from others I have mentioned. He is an African-American."

My condolences to you, Barbara, for your vision deficiency problems. Tunnel vision and/or blindness is a terrible thing to have to deal with.

It is no the ethnicity of the person that is suspect, it is the people who are influencing him in his quest to run our country. The nation as a whole does not run like good ol' Chicago Politics. Get you head up straight and start to actually analyze the content, rather than be a sheep following the anointed one.

PS: My political science professor told me one thing that I remember well. "The purpose of Government is to give employment to those who otherwise would not be employable." In case you have not figured it out, these people are not 'A' students.

After reading several of these articles I find it appalling that many seem to remember only that what they choose to remember.
First off this is not the first president, black or white, to receive disrespect on an address. Evidently President Bush being "Booed" and called "A Loser" by democrats was and is acceptable by some, I found it very offensive and in poor taste.
And then there is a president who found it completely acceptable to have Extramarital sexual relations while in the White House. Was this within acceptable limits or what we will tolerate from a president or politician as well?
Yes, a momentary outburst was slightly disruptive, but it was not even close to what they did to President Bush. This was ONE person, not over 30 people that continued to "BOO" throughout his address. And this ONE person apologized for the momentary lapse, NOT 1 democrat ever apologized to Bush for their disruptive behavior, but then I guess that was OK because it was democrats doing it not republicans.
Then there is the fact that the gentleman was correct to call Obama a Liar because he IS lying to the American public. Read the bill for yourself!! It doesn't take a Lawyer or a Politician to read and understand it. It takes some time that is a given, but if you read it closely you will find out what is TRULY in store for the American people. You should be very concerned that our elected officials are trying to force this down our throats. Didn't they get the idea at these small town meetings. The American public are not all stupid or complacent. We can read, we can understand and we can see for ourselves that certain things in this bill are NOT acceptable and we do not want them in this bill.
Perhaps if more people NOT less were willing to speak their minds, not by yelling and shouting but it seems that is the only way to get politicians to actually listen to us the "Small Constituents" these days, we wouldn't even have a bill like this on the floor that isn't going to help us but will rather hurt us.
I have talked with numerous small businesses and they all agree it will either raise their insurance or they will go under. I have talked with LPNs and RPNs and they all agree that their are things in this bill that are NOT for the health and well being of the patient.
Perhaps, just perhaps, we don't like Obama because we don't like the path he is trying to lead us down, and NOT the fact that he is a different color. I know that made no difference to me, or millions of other people, but rather it is his politics, his "agenda" that he has planned for us that we DO NOT like!!

Doesn't anyone else notice that if you are for Obama and his plan you are a "Good Citizen, a good American"? But if you are against his ideas you are "Un-American, Anti-American or a Racists"?!
And why doesn't the media, both TV and the newspapers actually cover unbiasedly instead of all one side or the other.
I would much rather have the TRUTH, I know a rare commodity these days, than to hear the same statements over and over again that are obviously slanted to Obama.
Perhaps Joe Wilson did make a momentary error in judgment and was "Caught Up in the moment" but what he said needed to be said.
And NO I'm NOT a racist!! I want useful, good reform that we can all agree on, not just what some, perhaps not even half the American people, think will help us.
Though personally I don't see how putting us trillions of dollars MORE in debt is helping anyone.
Why don't the politician simply give out all that money, like a stimulus, that they were going to spend on this stupid bill directly to the American people and let us decide what we want to do with it. I know I can think of a lot better places I would spend my thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of dollars, than on a bill that supports abortions as a "necessary health option," end of life counseling, Planned Parenthood IN our schools in there very own offices, or having other people decide whether I should have a surgery or simply take more pain medication. Obama said "Maybe it would be better for you to take the pain medication than to have the operation."
Who is he, or anyone else, qualified to tell me I should take medication rather than fix the problem with surgery. As someone who recently had heart surgery, and I am a very young person, I would have probably died without it, to have a panel or someone other than myself make a decision that directly affects me and my life, to have them decide what is "best" for me would be unthinkable!! I have a mind, I am an informed person, I researched what was going to be done and how it could or might affect my life and I Made the decision. Not my husband, not my mother, certainly not some panel, no one else, Just ME!! That is what everyone should be able to do!
Also please keep in mind that this wonderful Health Bill that they are trying to pass will NOT apply to any of them. They will not be included in this health reform. They have their own, better health care. Only we, the American people will get stuck with it.

Some people have very, very short memories. We just finished 8 years of listening to every extremist, right-wing, J.O. Shout down and call any one who wasn't of their ilk, anti-American, communist, or a socialist. I'm not in favor of childish name calling, by either party; it solves nothing. However maybe the Bible-toting Repubs would do well to remember..."As ye sow so shall ye reap."

Well the American people are certainly reaping what they sowed! Even the Democratic party has called Obama a "Liar" on his address to the Congress. I don't care if you are for or against Obama I want the Truth, the whole truth! Not just what some writer or editor "thinks" we should hear about, but ALL of it. Let us make up our minds for ourselves. Listen to the people at these city meetings! If they have a good, useful point to be made, let them make it and listen to it. If they are just full of hot air then Pass over them by all means. But don't just assume because we are "not in politics, or a lawyer" that we cannot understand what is being discussed!! I think the American people as a whole should be offended when someone says that "they don't really understand what this will do, or how it can help, or what will happen," or one of the many other comments that is made about us as citizens of this country. It makes the USA people and its government sound like idiots. Maybe we are if we can't get things right and help everyone that truly needs the help. But again I want the WHOLE truth not just what the media or anyone else wants to feed me. Let us read it for ourselves, let us decide for ourselves. After all it is "FOR the people and BY the people" isn't it??!!

Hey did anybody else hear that Obama ADMITTED that parts of what he said in his speech WERE lies, or wrong!!! One of his own, by that I mean a Democrat, called him out on it and said that "Yes Obama had Lied during his speech when he said that neither abortion or illegal aliens would get any of our tax dollars." Low and behold They ARE covered in the bills that are being introduced. Of course the same person said that Obama doesn't HAVE A PLAN, only the House and Senate do. He said he wasn't sure why Obama kept referring to "His" Bill when he doesn't have one! Thought this was both interesting and odd at the same time. So Wilson WAS RIGHT TO CALL HIM A LIAR, not appropriate given where they were, BUT HE WAS RIGHT!!!!

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Leo

This is a great day for fixing things that have gone wrong. If there have been ructions in your relationship with a certain person this is when you can sort things out and get them back on track. If an appliance or gadget is going on the blink, this is your cue to either get it mended or chuck it out and replace it. You may also find time to tidy up your immediate surroundings or take all those bottles and papers to your nearest recycling center. How virtuous you'll feel when it's all done!
