Another way for Maplewood to waste the money we do not have.

Every bridge they build over 36 should be built to accomodate 4 lanes of traffic in each direction on 36.

Once all the bridges are reconstructed then 36 should be expanded to an 8 lane freeway.

BTW 8 lanes all the way to 694 in Oakdale.

If you want to see a traffic mess take a look at 120 and 36 in North Saint Paul. Another cluster skrew brought to you by Senator Chuck Wiger and Rep Leon Lillie of North Saint Paul.

Thanks so much guys you are swell!!

South of 36 on English, to Co Rd B, west to Highway 61, go north to enter hwy 36. Less than a mile. OR east on Cope to White Ave to enter 36. Less than a mile either direction. North of 36 on English, take the frontage road over to 61 to highway 36. Less than a mile.

There's no reason for a bridge. Dumbo.

try any one of those tedious routes during peak times....oh wait, you don't have to so it won't affect you. All those routes are terrible now just imagine what it would be like with no access to 36 from English.....there IS a need for a bridge! get over your narcissism and think what other people have to endure! Dumbo!

Wrong dumbo. It does effect me. Daily. And I'll be happy to take two minutes out of my day to save YOU tax money. So get over YOUR narcissim and reaize you're not the only person in the area that matters. You want a bridge? You pay for it.

How does it effect you? Cause you commute on 36 and have to stop at the light? Thats NOTHING compared to the unworkable nonsense you are suggesting! It takes an eternity now to get onto 36 from English in peak times when people are using all five ways(61, Atlantic, English, Hazelwood and White Bear Ave) If you just close down three of those like some suggest it would take at least half an hour to get from that side of Maplewood to get on 36. Far longer and inconvenient than your few minutes at the light. As far as your stupid final statement, I go the other way, if they DON'T build it and do what you say, I want my taxes REDUCED by 75% since my interests are being ignored(not a serious statement, just an illustration of the absurdity of your last sentence)

Wouldn't an overpass for Hazlewood make sense, too? With the hospital on Hazelwood, anyone from the east side / Phalen / Maplewood area has to detour to 35, 61 or WB Ave to get medical care. And now they'll eliminate right turns from Hazelwood, too? I'm failing to see the logic there. Maybe seeing the entire plan would help.
An overpass would make perfect sense. It's needed with White Bear and 61 really the only two main connections across 36 to get to the north side of town. However, the people on Hazelwood south of 36 would bellyache because they would see increased traffic on their roadway by making Hazelwood a through street.

Lots of trolling on this article. Glad we don't have people like these making the decisions about what to build or NOTHING would ever get done...

And, by the way, an exit at English IS needed and is a benefit both to the neighborhood to the south and the industrial development (AND redevelopment) to the north. Also, it's not just the interchange itself, but storm drainage improvements (Truck Utilities' parking lot currently floods out) and water quality improvements. Plus it will provide better access to Hazelwood Park and better access for the residents to the north of 36 who basically have to punch their foot in the gas tank to get on 36 at Hazelwood.
