Friday May 28th, 2010 three officers, 3 patrol cars wasting your tax dollars and bludgeoning unsuspecting drivers with seat belt violations.
Coming back from Stillwater with my family I turn onto Century Ave. to go South to Main Street to see if the Car Show has started yet--It's about 4:45 PM and I see an officer standing feet from the road peeping into car windows as they drive by.
I had asked the kids if they wanted Burger King and my intention was to pull in.
The THREE patrol cars are positioned at the vacant BP gas station.
Well, I zip into the entrance and pull behind the gas station to get a view. I told my daughter here is were the spy watches the spy.
I took out my HD video camera and told them to go inside and order their food. Just as I said that a patrol car came around and pinned me in.
The officer came to the window looked and then said "Did you just put on your belts" We all said at the same time NO.
I retorted back, that I thought this was a waste of time and said I thought they might have learned their lesson from being humiliated with the Homeless Hairy sting debacle perpetrated not to long ago.
The officer then took off not wanting anything to do with me (I don't blame *** for that), I knew this officer and the officer said that it was not a sting.
I walked up to the officers at gas station and video tapped officer Swenson giving an old man a ticket and I was standing about 10 feet away. He chided that I should stop filming and I identified myself as PRESS.
He stated that the other person might not want to be video taped-- but the guy was not jumping over backwards to Officer Swenson's side.
SWENSON stated that I was interfering with his lawful duty. I asked him if this was still America and If he thought the public was sick and tired of these kinds of antics when thieves and pedophiles are running loose.
Here is a monumentally busy intersection, Hwy 120 & hwy 36. At this time of day people are trying to get home--it's Friday and then if they don't have there seat belts on then the hammer comes down on them--all for your own good I might add.
The traffic is all backed up and is more chaotic than it normally is.
One car almost rear ended another car because of the gauking and the impedance of the flow.
I queried officer Swenson about overtime and how about solving the various crimes that seem to be popping up all around us. Of course he got all mortified because "how dare" a mere citizen call him out on his police practices.
I got another earful of how thousands of people love him.(not making this up) all caught on tape.
Officer Swenson has somewhat of a tainted past and decided he wanted to bring something up from the past about me, which was unfortunate because at that time he got caught lying in a police report when I caught him on video THAT time.
I said Gee-- I forgot all about that, I will have to pull that old VHS out and sender' up to YouTube along with posting a copy of the police report on Http://www.NorthSaintPaul.Blogspot.com .
Whoops! The other officer took off but Swenson wanted to keep arguing.
I will post a link to YouTube for all of you on that website which I contribute to.
When I was done the party was over and my kids were waving at me through the window at burger king. I got the "knuckle touch" and my 14 year daughter who is an A honor roll student & said she was proud of me.
Well,*sigh... hopefully I helped a couple of hapless souls from losing their grocery money.
Since I live here, I will have to keep a vigilant eye on good old boy Swenson-- He's the kind of guy that might have a drop down gun in the trunk ;-).
I suspect not, he's getting a tad worn out and long in the tooth. Bring it on.

KUDO's to..Whoops I did it again...not a sting then what would they call it. Well they had another one on July 16th. If that wasn't a sting then why was at least 10 people arrested and 10 vehicles towed. People getting pulled over to check their seat belts and then given a breathalizer. Why don't we just go back to the 1920's Prohitition? Why do they sell alchol at functions only to have police stings. Why not just close all the bars. I am not saying that I agree with people drinking and driving but there is a difference between being drunk and having a few drinks. As for Mork's comment..if you were doing your job you wouldn't have to worry about being video taped. Maybe they need to go over to Mpls and help with the shootings instead of worrying about seat belts.
