Don't forget the Sea Cafe at Minnehaha Falls Park. They carry Sebastian Joe's ice cream with unusual flavors like Chocolate Amaretto, Blueberry, and even Garlic ice cream! Cost for a single cone is about $3 or so and you get one of the best views in the Twin Cities just steps away!

I'm sorry, but this is no contest. The best ice cream joint in the Twin Cities is Nelson's in Stillwater. For a little over $3 you get a waffle cone, and what they consider a "child" amount of ice cream, which is over a pint of ice cream when it is all said and done. It is simply awesome. And one of the best parts of the whole experience is watching little kid's faces as they walk out of the building with this huge ice cream cone, it really is priceless.

If you're in the mood for a short drive there are 3 wonderful places to have Ice cream in S.E. mn
1. Eagles Nest coffee shop (also offer Gelato)
2. Grumpy's Ice cream (located in Chocolate Escape)
Both are in beautiful downtown Wabasha Mn
within walking distance to the National Eagle Center
3. Lark Toy's
6miles south of Wabasha in Kellogg Mn

Agree about Nelsons if you like a LOT of ice cream. Their single is 3x the size of anyone else on this list. My husband ordered a triple scoop the first time we went there and he ended up with what looked like a half gallon in a waffle cone.

Now if they put Nelsons in downtown Stillwater, that would be good. Instead of some ticky tacky Dairy Queen. How blind is the city council to allow such a travesty on Main St? Dairy Queen and that disgusting tee shirt shop. Good grief. Is there no plan to encourage quality in downtown Stillwater. Condos, tee shirt shops and a Dairy Queen. Buh bye Stillwater.

There is room for DQ and other icecream shops to coexsist towntown, the DQ is a small town staple, just like a hardware store or gas station. Now the tacky tee shop, now that belongs south of the boarder! My family loves and patronizes both Nelsons and DQ. Sometimes we crave a good old "child size" cone from Nelsons, and sometimes a good old Blizzard from DQ, varity is the key.

I totally agree!! Connies' Creamy Cone on the corner of Dale and Maryland in Saint Paul is the best stop ever! Cute little family owned white building with red trim and a Huge ice cream cone on the top of it! Speaks volumes, always service with a smile and the price is far below what you would pay any place else! Give it a try, you will be a faithful customer too!

Why not have another Ice cream shop in Stillwater. Dairy Queen has been around as long as I can remember, It's an American Icon, perfect fit in Stillwater. Stillwater has room for several coffee shops including a major nation wide franchise, I don't see a issue with two ice cream shops.

Edina Creamery in Edina on 50th & France. They have a 2nd location in Minnetonka. After I tried it, I was to good for anything store bought ever again. Whenever I want ice cream I gladly pay $9 bucks a quart.

Echoing the previous comments - a Nelson's "child-size" is more ice-cream than most people can handle. Best of the Twin Cities!
