Stories like this upset me to no end. How could these store employees be SO STUPID, as to do something like this?! I hope dogs owner sues this place, and ASPCA closes them down for good. I also hope the groomer directly responsible for leaving that dog in a drying cage, gets the book thrown at him/her.
Just the groomer should be in trouble NOT the store employees that were there that day how where they to know if she didn't say anything !!!!

I would never insult an animal by calling it human. Humans are the lowest life form on the face of this earth, we have destroyed this planet and we kill each other for reasons other than food & survival. Our lives revolve around money and power. We are the only form of life on earth that sin.

"Fox 8 do something about this" Is the media now judge and jury? The media reports. They did their job. The judicial system and law enforement does something about this.

I have 2 dogs and love them to death, but they are dogs. Human life is more important. This is tragic but not a felony.

First off I agree with you to some degree, I am a proffessional pet stylist myself and I own my own buisness and I use heated dryers and would never put a wet dog under a cold air dryer (that could be fatal too!) my dryers have heat adjustments and timers not to mention all of my cages have open sides and my shop has central air! As far as drying poodles in cages gos, you are right but do keep in mind that Miles was very young and most likely would not be able to stand table drying for that can be frightening to such a young pup!!! There are many ways to straighten a poodles coat that doesnt involve them table drying! I agree that the entire shop should be shut down and i hold all the employees there acountable!!!

First of all, Real groomers do NOT cage dry poodles, they hand dry them for the proper finish.
Secondly, Where were the timers for the dryers?
Third, why was no one going in and out of the drying room checking on the various dogs??
Unfortunately, grooming is NOT a regulated business and groomers do not need to be certified. Myself, I have 28+ years, have VOLUNTARILY taken certification testing through several agencies and despite my experience & years, still continue my education through various seminars.
My sympathies to the family of the poor dog. This is not the first, and will not be the last. Do NOT blame the equiptment, blame the operators.

I am shocked, disgusted, and horrified about the grooming death. I find it apprehensible to leave a dog in a cage with a blow dryer on them. That poor dog and the last moments and no one hears the call and cries for help. How do you forget about the animal that you are grooming or leave and tell no one. Regardless, someone should have been back their with the dog. Its their responsibility to follow through on the animal you are grooming not be all la dee da about it and everyone else turning a blind eye to the whole thing since it not their dog they are grooming. Its bs and the laws need to change..Firt the Petland incident last week now this!!

When you bring your dog or cat to a groomer you expect hands on caring grooming. People are trusting you with their pets when they are in your care. They are a part of our family not a piece of garbage. A pet cannot be replaced and there is no excuse for this negligence. I hope you guys are held accountable for this incident and I will make sure to boycott your store and let others know about this incident.

God I am so disgusted and feel horrible for this family.

I am a groomer, and am DISGUSTED with what happened to this poor little dog.

I am one of many professional groomers that strongly feel that "drying cages" should be outlawed.

Blessings to the family that this horrible thing happened to.

This didn't need to happen.

To Ashley Weaver, the groomer that killed this dog, I say; GET OUT OF GROOMING. You give us all a black eye.

SHAME ON YOU ASHLEY.

It was an accident. You animal lovers are getting out of hand.
Who will be paying for this “autopsy”? The tax payers?
Any idiot on the Parma police department who spends any time or tax-payer money on this should be fired.
There are military veterans with no health coverage and you over-paid union police people want to waste our tax-payer money on this?

This person should have to suffer the same way this poor little guy died. I beleive an eye for an eye.

As a mom to two dogs I am outraged that someone so stupid would be working with animals or even people. WHAT WHERE THEY THINKING.

What does the cruelty to animals mean - a slap on the wrist.

To some, pets are family. Too bad you can't understand this. I'd lay down my life for my dog before I would for people like you who say "it's just a dog"....LOSER

I am sicked by the "guest" comment. I made a complaint about that groomer to the manager in April of this year and since the owners weren't there, wrote them a letter about the abuse I saw her doing while I watched her. They did nothing. The store should NOT have any of the grooming hidden behind a wall. That is where the neglect and abuse begins. Put things out in the open where you are held accountable by the public. The store should be held accountable for this abuse. I KNOW first hand this was not the first time they were made aware of her neglect/abuse on an animal. I have no use for "guests" comment above.

I pray Ms. Weaver did not do this on purpose. Nonetheless, it was still negligence on her part not to tell other staff a dog was in the drying cage before she left. Speaking of other staff, did they only have 1 dog to primp that Friday afternoon? Because Miles would not have been left too long in the cage if other dogs were lined up to get dried.
