I wish they wouldn't ring up more than 12 items at the express lane, and no checks or debit cards, either.

The rest I don't care about.

I no longer go to Market Basket even tho I do like some of their prices. They do not enforce their express lane I used to go when I was in hurry) and I think that out of all the stores, Market Basket has the most offenders. And quite frankly - I don't think they give a damn. So bring on the Super Stop & Shop. The MB across the street is old and tired.

I am strictly a Market Basket shopper. The prices are lower and these days that counts for a lot. Course living in Billerica I don't have much choice, that's all we have. Went to Shaw's in Burlington once and was shocked at the prices, I also don't like that to get certain prices you need to have a Shaw's card.

I am fortunate to live within a short driving distance of each major grocery; deMoulas/Market Basket, Hannaford, Shaw's and Stop & Shop.

I find that Market Basket and Hannaford do not require cards but offer much better pricing; You really do get more for your dollar at Market Basket.

I do think that Hannaford offers a better selection of produce and natural foods than Market Basket. And, that their store brand items offer greater savings if your family is not brand specific.

Stop & Shop and Shaw's do offer some promotional savings through the card and in the way of coupons mailed to the home, but, their prices are too high. It never balances out as any kind of savings if I am going there only for promo/coupon items and store brand items just do not measure up.

Still, if I lived in that particular corner of town, I would welcome ANY grocery since Market Basket is short on variety. I guess I would just hope it was Hannaford instead of Stop & Shop.

What a joke, why do they care?
Do they want to keep us trapped?
It just makes them look like the biggest babies, I like Market Basket but this just makes them look bad.

Do a good job and give lower prices and you will have no problem, they would have built that place for no reason.

Its the biggest eyesore.

Market Basket won on appeal, they delayed or succeeded in blocking Super Stop and Shop from being built. Actions taken by Market Basket shows me greed, they want a monopoly, they don't want competition or give people a choice. A choice of shopping someplace that is close to where they live. Would their actions be in violation of the Constitutional rights of others?

I used to do my shopping at Market Basket, I now go to Hannaford's. I moved up here 5 years ago from RI where all you see is Stop & Shop or Shaw's. I was told upon moving here that Market Basket is cheaper than Hannaford's, and that Hannaford's is basically where people with more money go to.

Well, due to driving by the Hannaford's in Dracut on 113 almost every day, I find it's more convenient to shop there. Well, I have found a lot of their stuff is cheaper. In fact, most of their store brand stuff is cheaper than Market Basket's. I have gone to MB a couple of times since changing just for price comparisons.

One problem with MB is their stores, especially in Lowell, are all run down, and not maintained very well. HF is comparable and/or cheaper, yet their stores are much nicer to shop in. Maybe MB should stop wasting money on appeals and upgrade their ragged looking stores.

I shopped at Mkt. Basket since the late 50's in MA. Since moving to Nashua, NH I am appauled at all their run down stores in the area and Amherst NH as well.
The quality has changed, they are doing away with most other brands and they certainly do not cater to their customers nor the DISABLED. Most bathrooms are up 2 flights of stairs, dirty, and unkept.
They should be sued for violating the Disabilities Law! Spend some money Telemachus Family, on pleasing your customers.
Hannaford,Shaws and Stop and Shop are so very clean and have easy access to their customers needs.

I want variety - name brand variety. I want the right to choose which store I shop in.

MB has removed too many name brand and replace them w/their label.

What is MB afraid of - competition is suppose to be good for business. Accept it, deal with it, learn from it and move on. All you are doing is spending money on lawyers and allienating more your customers. The money would be better spent on updating your stores.

The DeMoulous family is really showing their true colors on this one (of course they're already known to be greedy stinges who sue eachother already). They are so afraid of competition that they will do anything to try and block it. Market Basket will still have the low income clientele they have always had. People who prefer fresh produce and good meats already shop at Hannafords. BOYCOTT MARKET BASKET!!!

Actually the only store that is rundown in Lowell is on Wood St. Fletcher st and Bridge St are both nice and clean. Also Bridge St is opening up a new store at the other end of the plaza which will be bigger and offer more. The only thing cheaper at Hannafords is their name brand stuff and even that isn't cheaper unless its on sale. Market Basket may be greedy but they have upgraded alot of their stores and they are continueing to do so.They actually just did one in Nashua, off of Amherst St. Hannafords looks nice as soon as you walk in with their produce department and bakery right in front of you but as you walk through the store, it loses its glamour. They sat it up that way so people can be amazed by how nice it is- until you hit the fish case.

First off, "chelmsford kid"- get a dictionary and learn how to spell demoulas. Secondly, if you had any remote idea of what kind of hard work it took to develop that empire, you wouldnt be so quick to judge. Do you have any idea how many people they have helped and how much money they have given to thousands of organizations across the state? You should also know one more thing, they were only defending what they created. The people suing were the greedy ones who could never get enough and wanted more and more. Get your facts straight and try having what you have worked for your whole life taken away by some leaches and a bought off judge. Then Id like to see you open your mouth.
