My son called me from the crime scene around 2:00AM to let me know what happened earlier. Eveidently, someone had been making threats to get this kid, who is formerly of Maplewood Sqaure and there had been some shots fired last weekend around the same area in an attempt to get this kid. The 21 yr old was shot around 12:15 but responders didn't appear until 12:35 because the initial call was that shots were heard then someone called and said someone was shot, then the police appeatred at the scene. My understanding is the mother and other relatives came to the scene and the police at one point had threatened to arrest the kid's frantic and grieving mother because she was screaming at them that it was their fault. All I can say is that it is so very tragic when a parent gets a call about another parent's child and you learn more about what happened in that phone call than what the police know or are willing to admit they know, especially when they are saying the incident is an "isolated incident". They said that about other shootings and other recent murders, too. Sad.

what was the motive? Do you know? It doesn't give anyone the right to kill a person! It's getting bad everywhere...People just don't care anymore.

To the person who asked is there a shrine?? Yes across the street from roanans!

responding to snowey, no I do not know the motive other than this kid himself was known to shoot a gun and had been making threats. He lived in maplewood at one time and ganged with a certain crew. Maybe someone called his bluff right back. His closets associates know what happened to him, Im sure. This day and age the motives are so petty but have serious consequences. I agree. No one has a right to take another's life.... unless its a self defense thing. Don't know the motive other than what I have already said but if I hear, I will post.

This is such a sad thing. Young children really claimin to be "gangstas" It is not smart nor safe to run up and down the street armed with a gun. It is also not smart to pull a gun out with such a big crowd watchin. From what I've been hearing from people who were there was that cory had a gun and he was waiving it around. This is what happens and I hope that malden cops start crackin down more

I blame this entire group and the way they acted and carry themselves. The memorial on the corner makes this kid look even worse. Empty liquor bottles and rolling papers? What kind of tribute is that?

wow,I can't believe some of these posts that i've read. The fact is that someone lost a son. I have personal knowledge that he wasn't even the intended target. It was a revenge crime & he happened to be with the people that were the target. I have known both parties & no matter what someone has done to piss you off, no one and i mean NO ONE has the right to kill another person. & it's so stupid to think you can kill someone in front of a crowd of people that know both of you.

Whats stupid is that these people didnt help their dying friend. They put a show on for the crowd instead.

This kid had his gun out first there was about 100 witnesses he was outside the bar holding it in plain view. now I doubt any people made statements. This is what happens when children have guns. And what's even worse is that none of his so calld friends even stayed to make sure he was okay they all just left that's pretty sad. I'm curious to see if any arrests are made or if they'll just be more shootings.
