Caletka knows what he is doing. Davie does not need another high school you morons. The school in Davie is under enrolled already. That is why they are rezoning. Cypress Bay is the over crowded school and they will be sending some students from Cypress Bay to Western as a temporary fix. All of you need to do your homework before first before you talk out your X##.

Caletka gets my vote. He doesn't vote for a raise in taxes because he gets rid of the bureaucratic waste created by the other members on the council like Susan Starkey.

Another DUMB O'CRAP! Elections are NON-partisian, Caletka is a waste of time and money. He has done zero for Davie short timer who only cares about himself "moving up" the Democratic food chain. Don't know anyone in Davie that thinks like him. NO NO NO just like he votes.

All that "yes" voting for everything has practically put Davie in the dumps. All this overdevelopment has led to empty commercial and residental properties. New empty spaces are popping up every day. There are no council members with enough intelligence to know when to stop! Will they stop when 1/2 the town is boarded up????

We need someone with enough hutzpa, enough brains, enough insight, etc. to vote no. Someone that knows that this is not the right road to travel even if the rest of the world is voting yes. Look at the shape of the economy and people are still voting yes, yes, yes! Why?

It's insane. We need some sanity please.

Caletka may not have done much for District 1, I know this because I live there and you can't do anything when you got big money Foreman (Palm Nova) sucking up Davie available money for his personal use. He takes money from the poor residents, serves them water that has been poisoned with high HAA5 and TTHM levels, then charges them the highest price in the state for water, that comes to their homes through water meters that are above ground, upside down that measures water going through multiple times. Rumors I've heard recently are that Forman is looking for a loophole to sell the park out from underneath the low income group that are stuck there. If all this is true, maybe Foremans loophole is a ticket to JAIL for poinsoning the very people that feed him. I'm considering running for Caletkas seat as counsel member for the district that I have been trying so hard to help. Especially after the last panic attack set off at Palm Nova last May. I have many ideas that work for everyone. I want to challenge Mr. Foreman to a discussion with me about how to do this. I know you know who I am Foreman, so show up at my home or send me a note (not eviction notice) to repair the problems.

The problem with Davie is that our council rejects projects it should say yes to and vice a versa. They approve Sheridan House on Flamingo and take a nice residential 55 acre parcel off of the tax rolls forever. Then they rejected IKEA. IKEA simply went across the street and west a couple of blocks into Sunrise. Now Sunrise will collect several tens of millions of dollars in tax revenue for the next several decades. They rejected WalMart on University and Orange. If WalMart can't go on University, the busiest retail corridor in West Broward, then where else should they go?? Then the council spent even more money to defend themselves in the lawsuit. Now that corner will sit vacant for another 10 years and city still get no tax revenue. This is a city that can't even afford to build a new firestation out west!!!

The anti-development crowd needs to get a clue. Development pays for those services we all want and need in South Florida. If you want more police and firemen, better schools, etc...someone has to pay. Either we pay more taxes, our we let developers pick up the tab. Those are the only two choices. I for one would rather let the developers pick up the tab and have another IKEA or WALMART down the street. It is the lesser of two evils.

Truthfully In the beginning I hated the idea of Walmart being on University and Orange. Now after realizing the position the town of Davie is in financially, a Walmart would be perfect for gaining tax revenue and considering the cost of gas now, I realize I'm not saving any money going all the way to Walmart on Flamingo Road. What is sad and the reason I didn't want it there in the 1st place is I really miss the old Davie. The horses, the rodeo, cows, the smell of the orange blossoms in April and the smell of manure in the morning while waiting for the school bus to pick me up on the corner! It will never be the same.
Davie doesn't need more residential properties. What it needs is a few big businesses to pay the taxes and save the rest of the room to restore Davie's true essence and get the manure out of town hall and back in the pastures.

Its a shame that you and the many who think like you did not come to that conclusion when the opportunities were present. Opportunities like the rejected SuperWalmart and IKEA do not come along everyday. It may be a decade before opportunities like those come back. Hopefully Davie residents and their representatives will learn from their mistakes.

I'll be working on it. District 1 coming March. Also I was here before they built I-75. I used to ride my horses where the super highway is. When they came up with the original plans Arvida Parkway (?) originally had an east bound exit, which would have been in my front yard, and about 7 of my neighbors yards that are west of my parents old house. After several years of debates and fighting over water, landfill, highway..ect. issues my parents gave up their dream home and moved to Kansas. Back in the early 1980's (if anyone here was around then) it was MY car that somehow on purposely stalled out at the front gate of the landfill. Yes that ugly brownish gold 4 door Grand Torino was mine! Then we got up on our horses and picketed the landfill. Garbage trucks were parked down Boyscout Rd. and Orange Dr. for over a mile, waiting to get into the landfill to dump their garbage. In the morning it wasn't so bad, but as the heat rose and the garbage trucks lined up. Man did it stink! I think the only reason we were able to find the points that were taken out of my car (so it wouldn't start), was the smell. And can you belive NOW people have 3/4 of a million dollar homes! On the dump! And it still smells just as bad as it did that day! Crazy! So real Davie people out there! Don't worry The Bitch is Back, she's pissed at what happened to Davie and she's ready to start stompin' on the ole' stomin' ground! Home Sweet Home will return! I never learned how to clog, can someone teach me? Are they still calling it that?

I need to make a correction, I started to say something about Bryan Caletka and when I checked back I realized I never finished what I was gonna say about him and went off on the issue of Palma Nova and Foreman. What I would like to say is that I don't really know about what he did in district 1 because of Foreman and other then clear up the problem that Palma Nova is not being sold. What Bryan did was for Davie, which is a very big thing and a good thing. He got rid off those who are ripping us off. Those semi politicians that steal city money for their own personal gain. That is a very big step and so important in our community. I do know District 1 has a lot of difficulties to work with, considering it is majority of Davie's lower income citizens that don't really put money back into the towns budget because mobile homes do not pay a property tax. So where is the money to come from? Other districts do gain more revenue from property taxes and need that revenue for improvements in their area, which is fair. Thats not Bryans fault, there was not much he could do. I have researched it and I may have found the answers. But Bryan did Davie good, and will do Broward County good. Someone has to Police the politicians. I'm just happy to say that Bryan is my kind of community leader, because he has balls enough to speak up and out and rid us of what and who is wasting our tax money. GO BRYAN, YOU GOT MY VOTE. I would like yours :)

Mr. Caletka is a gentleman of sharp mind and fairness. He taught me in High School; I had almost 5 months of his Zoology class and I was able to see many aspects of his character 5 days a week. And what I saw and heard from him was always logical and entertaining. I shall vote for him.

I e-mailed him about his malicious ad against Commissioner Rodstrom and this is what he sent me back:
"I appreciate your feedback despite the lascivious comment at the end. He threw
mud first with his negative mail piece that was totally made up. At least my
allegations are based on solid information defensible by the public government
records and public statements. What part did you find incorrect? The tax
increase. Being born in 1988 I can only imagine that property taxes must place
a substantial burden upon your personal finances! The fact that the newspaper
reported the substantial time he spends out of Broward County? The Salary of
over one million that came from his public financial disclosures that all
elected officials (including myself) must submit to the state? What was the
part that you found to be completely incorrect?
many thanks,
-Bryan Caletka"
What a jerk!!
