Throttlegate – Toyota Exposed

Jan 30, 2010 Full story: www.wfaa.com 28

One has to wonder if this is the "real" fix. Toyota said it began shipping gas pedal parts to its dealers Friday for use in fixing the millions of cars and trucks recalled because of accelerators that could become stuck.

C'mon now JJ--much of what you're saying really isn't true-it's just hype--and intentional hype at that!.
Please--let's get real here!
Look at the titles of your vast multitude of topics you post here.
Now tell us how much of those are more than just "get attention" implied situations which really aren't correct.(like I said, somwhere between real and unreal)
In fact, it seems you are often just having a little 'fun' by posting those titles.
You would be untruthful if you suggested that kind of rhetoric isn't another form of "marketing speak", with all kinds of creatively implied scenarios, etc.
Also--you weren't qhite truthful in those many comments about the govt. "forcing" Toyota to cancel production.(By your own admission BTW)
Nor are you yet correct in claiming the problem is a software glitch--nothing has been proven as yet about that.
I could continue, but I'd rather not embarrass you further---really, you and Toyota have a lot in common when it comes to doing the same things--aka "spin".

A. It IS having fun.

B – I was correct with the government forcing them to stop. They had no choice. I thought that was explained in full. TOYOTA continued making and selling defective vehicles for a week after the recall until the Feds stepped in and said “oh by the way you know you can’t do that..right?”
C - Today the plants are shuttered and Americans can once again breathe easy.

Now you're just trying to weasel out of the truth JJ.
That's typical of the old JJFADS--remember the promise made NOT to engage in any more silliness?

There's a very well known Canadian poet named Robert Service (look it up!)who wrote a number of poems and stories about the North--Yukon and such in the gold rush days.
One poem---The Cremation Of Sam McGee---has a line that I kinda live by:....
"A Promise Made Is A Debt Unpaid, And The North Has Its Own Stern Code"

Lokks like JJ is indebted to yours truly!

So why did Toyota continue producing and selling defective cars after the fact?

I asked for a more honest answer, but you gsve one one which went sideways.
The cold hard truth is, you and Toyota are both saying and doing more or less the same things.
Namely, your respective claims and reasoning lie somewhere between reality and fiction.
The only difference is in the order of magnitude, and the fact they speak to a far greater audience than yours and thus their actions have broader consequences.
The language and context you both utilize is more commonly used in the art of "marketing"---someth ing all auto manufacturers (and most other producers and service providers around the world) do, and who have raised the practice to a high level of calculated deception.
You'll probably protest this observation to the heavens, but it's real, and it's reality.
Pedal-gate is officially exposed. You get the news from me before it breaks.

The other question is how they got the fix out so fast. And if toyota knew about this before, why did
they wait until now to send the fix out? But I think GM and Ford will pick up customers.
Remember those engine sludge problems with the 1995-2000 model Toyotas that caused the engines to lock up? Toyota tried to claim it was the owner's fault, even though the owners had complete maintainence records. I find this somewhat similar. Just a different problem.

If you buy a Toyota make sure the VIN starts with a J. This means its made in Japan and not by some ignorant redneck.
