As I enter my 75th year the memories seem to take over, and one that sticks within my thoughts is the Keansburg of old. How often I think of that marvelous excursion boat known as the City Of Keansburg which left from NYC Battery Place and the ensuing trip that seemd like an ocean voyage.
and landing at the pier that had a miniature railroad that we called the dinky. We often walked out to meet my father who worked all week ad returned to Keansburg on this boat, and he then treated my brothers and I to a ride on the dinky We had a house in Belvedere Beach and we went to the Belvedere Pool, where ruled Lou The Lifeguard, as I later learned he became the Mayor of Keansburg does anyone remember any of these things, I sure would like to hear from you, My dad used to hang out in a corner bar,(how did they survive without AC) and he once introduced me to Jimmy Walker the Champ. I'm 52 now, but still remember my summers in Keansburg, I think my Dad bought the houses in around 1960-61.....I was only 4, but we spent the next 8 summers there and I know it was about a 10 block walk to the beach, which you had to have a season pass for. Also there was Manny's and I can still taste the burgers at Hamburger Heaven. Going to the arcade with a pocket filled of pennies kept you busy for quite awhile. Lastly the fun we had when it rained, the streets would flood and my older brother would put me in one of those little plastic pools and we played pirates. Also we had a screened wrap around porch and was always getting yelled at to Stop Running!

I spent many summers in Keansburg and I will never forget the fun timees we had. The boardwalk I believe Tuesday was the bargain night for the rides. Summer love was always in the air and the haunted house ride still exist. I am look for Joe Lupino we had such good times at Keansburg.

Great Times never to be forgotten

I lived in Keansburg in the late 70s. I loved livin there at that time. I live just a few blocks from the board walk which I spent many days and nights there. My friends and I would go to the Miami Club all the time. We also had many block parties we would go to. I use to date a guy that played the drums at the block parties. What memories. I have been there a few times since it not the same but I will always have the memories.
