Garden Ridge is the scum of the earth. How could they fire their employees this close to Christmas? How low can you go? What is GR thinking? How musch do they think it is going to cost to "bring employees in from other stores", how much will their hotel, food, gas cost? You have to pay them from coming from other stores right? No, wait they will probalbly fire them once they are done using them. I hope these people can file for emergency unemployment. my prayers go to the families affected by the carelessness of GR. I don't normally wish anything bad on people. In this case i feel it is permissable. I hope Gardenridge sales decend into oblivion and hey loose everything they invested in over the years. I think it would be nice if some one set up a fund ( food baskets or maybe clothing) for the families affected by this unfourtunate incident. If anyone knows how one could donate to the families, please do post. Again, my prayers are with these people and their family.

Why would you not shop at a place just because they made a business decision? Other businesses have done the same thing, the only difference is that they didn't get as much attention. I worked there a few years ago and as I was on my way out this store started having problems with lazy employees and managers unwilling to manage. Everyone employeed at the store should have taken their job a little more seriously and maybe they would still have a job. The problem is everyone expects a free paycheck without doing their job and when it bites them in the butt and that paycheck is taken away they cry and act like they did nothing wrong. I commend GR for wanting to better their store by getting rid of the rude lazy people that worked there.

I was in Garden Ridge the week before this happened. It appeared that most of the workers were lazy and just there for the paycheck as the former employee mentioned. I saw two gentlemen who were actually trying to work and clean up all of the broken glass ornaments, but there were a few other employees standing in the Christmas section just talking to each other and their friends who were shopping. They didn't seem to care that there was water all over the floor because of a broken snowglobe or that very little was organized on more than one aisle. I was also a little disappointed when I tried to ask for a discount on an item that had some misses pieces, and the cashier just said, "They won't do anything," referring to the manager. I tried to force the issue, but she wouldn't budge or offer to get the manager or anything. While I am a little sad that any decent workers may have lost their job, I hope the rest of the workers realize earning a paycheck does require them to actually work.

Last week Garden Ridge also had employees to sign a form to say what days and times they are available.
They want you to be available 364 days a year, at all times........if you circled that you weren't available any of those times you can no longer be a Lead---or a full timer.

Until you've owned a retail operation don't be too quick to judge. Owners must protect their investment. I bet that if any of the employees were doing their jobs they would have kept them. No one gets rid of good employees. I will continue to shop at Garden Ridge and I appreciste a company committed to GOOD customer service.

The people at Garden Ridge were lazy and would not work. They were also stealing the store blind. They have several of them on camera showing how they were stealing. So if any of you idiots that worked there want to complaint, you better be sure that you weren't one of the many that they have on camera. Just be glad that they didn't take your ass to jail. At least, they let a bunch of dead beat thieves draw unemployment. I would say that they were very nice to these people. And the store already looks 100% better. So it just goes to show that you weren't doing your job.

If the truth can be told. Disgruntled associates that ran the store into the ground as well as the managers. Yes, there were some great associates there. It is unfortunate jobs were lost. What would YOU do if it was YOUR store?Christine Knowles of chesapeake-(Phone number, address and personal info is on CRAIGSLIST link) store needs to get a lesson on the proper use of the word TRUTH. I know it it hurts to be FIRED for so many. However the truth- you have to come to work ON TIME and WORK or be replaced. Yes-its that simple. Blame who you want. The TRUTH lies in yourself. Be accountable for yourself first. I know its hard to for someone of your caliber.

Just another example of why you hourly slugs shouldn't put christmas on credit cards. How about when you make nine bucks an hour, why not save money instead of buying your fat kids a 300 dollar rechargeable yard toy that'll be a mosquito farm by April?

You sound as if you may be speaking from past experiences. Let's understand that not eveyone knows of personal finance management.

No, not quite from personal past experience, just overhearing the deafening din of debt frustration from the rest of the world as they talk in checkout lines and call into radio shows. I think it's average and it's exactly what the television tells you to do: get caught up in the spirit of christmas and make it special for others= spend spend spend.
I've got retirement to look forward to because I've NEVER bought anything I couldn't pay for.

I understand your interest in bringing me down a few pegs, Terra, it's called jealousy and regret. Simple, easy to remember: don't finance anything but a house that you can afford to maintain.

I didn't shop often there but I did shop there. I found everyone to be the same as everwhere else, tried of working with the public. The managers should have stepped up and done their jobs to maintane a "good store". Been there as a manager and it is part of the job.
I didn't charge my christmas but I did buy my grandbaby a "$300 battery operated yard toy" and it is put up now that she is gone. Don't judge unless you be judged. Thanks
