NEGLIGENT COP

I am SO ANGRY over this story. Why is it that these cops get away with MURDER???? This goes to show why so many innocent people get put away for crimes they never commited and WE ALL KNOW THAT IS TRUE. These cops will LIE AND COVER UP FOR EACH OTHER time and time AGAIN and that is NOT RIGHT!!!!
This cop was driving with NO REGARD FOR LIFE and killed 4 innocent people that were at the WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME!!! Poor people, I bet they did not even know what hit them, it just breaks my heart.:*( Man, it could of been ME, MY MOM, MY SISTER AND MY AUNT. On that same day, just a few hours before (around 10 a.m.), we had driven on that same side of the freeway. So when I heard the news, I freaked!!!
I JUST THINK THAT COP NEEDS TO PAY THE PRICE AND BE PUT AWAY FOR MANY YEARS. WHAT THE HECK WAS HE THINKING, WHAT THE HECK WAS HIS RUSH? I'M TIRED OF THESE COPS SPEEDING ON THE FREEWAY AS IF THEY OWN IT. AND WITH NO SIRENS, COME ON COPS!!!!! If it was the other way around, the Cadillac rear-ending the cop car...FORGET IT!!!! We wouldn't hear THE END OF IT!!!! And if that Cop were to die by getting rear-ended, the Cadillac driver would of been CRUSIFIED IMMEDIATELY! AND in a few days...WE'D BE SEEING ANOTHER RIDICULOUS "PRESIDENTIAL STYLE FUNERAL PROCESSION" HERE IN THE VALLEY WITH COPS FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY ATTENDING, TYING UP THE LAS VEGAS STREETS AND FREEWAYS. PLEASE!!!!!
LET'S ALL PRAY THAT JUSTICE IS SERVED IN THIS VERY VERY SAD AND UNFORTUNATE CASE. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS HORRIFIC ACCIDENT, NO EXCUSE!!!!

You are so right. I can only imagine the sickening scene of cops coming countrywide to whine about how one of their own was "so wronged". Most(not all) cops hide behind the badge only to bully & intimidate and this is an extreme example. Las Vegas has their share of the blue wall of silence. NLVPD especially.(you should research on the net). What can you expect from a profession that barely requires a high school degree......

It will be covered up. It will be glossed over. The killer trooper will get away with it. The other "law enforcement" people will laugh and reason that those "spicks" shouldnt have been there in the first place.
Afterwards the rest of us have to watch our rear view mirrors for drunkin speeding Nevada Troopers.
NEW EXCUSES

So I kinda heard today that this is the reason why the Cop slammed into the Cadillac: Supposedly, he was speeding because he was trying to catch up to a speeder. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!
Supposedly, he was driving behind a semi-truck, HE THEN decided to change lanes and WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM! It's like...why the heck weren't his sirens on? Why the heck weren't his freakin' lights on???? Why was this cop so negligent and have the nerve to drive like a damn bat out of hell without any type of warning to all the other drivers. It's like...HELLO! The I-15 is always busy day and nite, from what I've seen. Just goes to show that this cop was negligent, driving with no regard for life, probably DRUNK, PROBABLY ON DRUGS, probably mentally disturbed??? WHERE ARE HIS URINE AND BLOOD TEST RESULTS??????? It's like...HOW CAN YOU JUST CRASH INTO SOMEONE LIKE THAT!!!!?????? ONLY A DRUNK OR SOMEONE ON MEDICATION/DRUGS DOES SUCH A THING. From what I know, when you rear-end someone......YOU ARE GUILTY!!!!! There is just no excuse!!!! I'm a female and always on the I-15 driving alone. It SCARES ME to think that maybe one day.....the innocent victim can be ME!!! It can be my husband, it can be my neighbor, it can be another innocent person just driving by. This cop needs to speak up, let himself be known, be a man and TELL THE TRUTH!!!!!!!!!! By him not talking, it only makes all the other cops look bad. Yeah, we do appreciate that cops are there to serve and protect us, but does that mean that they can GET AWAY WITH MURDER????? THAT IS JUST NOT RIGHT!!!!!!!! He needs to pay the price and we are all praying that justice is served here, because those INNOCENT people did not deserve to die. SO WHAT IF THEY WERE INDIGENOUS INDIANS FROM SOUTHERN MEXICO, THEY WERE STILL HUMAN!!!! AND THEY HAD AND HAVE RIGHTS!!!!!!!!!! YES, EVEN IN DEATH. WE ALL NEED TO OPEN OUR EYES AND REALIZE THAT ONE DAY....THE INNOCENT VICTIMS CAN BE US or SOMEONE WE LOVE!!!! THEN WHAT!!!??????? ARE WE GONNA LET THEM GET AWAY WITH IT?????? I HOPE THIS IS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR ALL COPS OUT THERE. I hope that they are a little more careful when they are doing their job and trying to meet their monthly "quota." By the way, last nite I drove by the accident scene on my way to Fry's. I noticed LOTS OF dark colored TRASH BAGS at the side of the freeway, they all looked FULL. It made me think if maybe there was evidence in those bags (hmmmmmmm?). Also, I noticed that all the advertisement in the area were TURNED OFF!!! I wondered why???? Anyway, being that the lights were TURNED OFF on the ads, the area still appeared quite lit up, did not look pitch dark. In other words...visibility was pretty good last night, in spite that it was pretty cloudy out. And my vision is pretty screwed up, but I had no problem clearly seeing cars in front of me. I then told my husband..."how can someone drive straight into the rear of someones car? I don't get it!!!" Truly, I don't get it! It is not like that I-15 is pitch dark once you pass North of St. Rose Pkwy, so why can someone not see a car in front of them? The area is just pretty bright for someone not to see a car in front of them. ANYWAY, I'm praying that justice is served here. O.J. GOT AWAY and that is enough bad news for a life time. LET'S HOPE HISTORY DOES NOT REPEAT ITSELF HERE. LASTLY, I WANNA HEAR WHAT THE TRUCK DRIVER HAS TO SAY AND THE OTHER WITNESS THAT CAME FORWARD. THANK GOD FOR THEM!!!!

A horrible accident yes, criminal no. I believe we need to show the utmost in compassion for the victims but charges........please. It would not have happened if the illegal aliens had not been breaking the law by being in this country and on our roads. What about our failed immigration policy? How can people that break the law try to use it to their advantage when it suits them? Any loss of human life is tragic but support on the side of criminals for a LULAC/ACLU agenda is giving away our country at an alarming rate. You are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, unless you are an American citizen?
LEGAL STATUS NOT ISSUE

Las Vegas, NV

#6 Mar 2, 2006
The issue is that these innocent HUMANS were killed by a NEGLIGENT driver with NO REGARD FOR LIFE. So what if they were not here legally, that is not their fault. Blame it on the people patrolling our borders. Blame it on the employers that KEEP OFFERING JOBS TO NON-U.S. CITIZENS. It's like flaunting a bone to a dog........what do you think the dog is gonna do, sit back and just look at it???? NO, HE'S GONNA RUN, GET IT and DEVOUR IT. The only reason illegals are here is because EMPLOYERS keep flaunting JOBS to them. And by illegals I don't mean just people from Mexico, I mean from other Countries as well. Anyway, them being here legally or not legally is not the issue here. BUT OFCOUSE, PEOPLE ARE GONNA MAKE EXCUSES left and right so that we know who gets away with murder, as people say. BUT IT'S ALL GOOD, GOD WILL DO WHAT IS RIGHT, HE ALWAYS DOES!!!! BOTTOM LINE, IF ONE OF US WAS IN THE COPS SHOES THAT NIGHT...DO YOU THINK WE'D BE AT HOME RIGHT NOW EATING A NICE BIG STEAK AND WATCHING A MOVIE? HECK NO!!! WE'D PROB BE IN A JAIL CELL, WITH SHACKLES ON OUR FEET AND ON WATCH 24/7!!! ANYWAY, All I can say to all my local Las VEgans....we need to be more alert and keep an eye on our rear-view mirror, that's for sure!!!! Don't want nobody slammin' into us.

Come on you've got to be kidding me. So your saying that it's alright to kill people if they are here illegally, how do sleep at night. If this is so tell this to the family in Florida that lost 7 people when there car was rear ended by a semi-truck at 60mph, but the driver of the car was only 15 w/out an adult present, so the truck driver and his company should get off with nothing because that car shouldn't have there right, tell that to their family you haertless twit!!!!!!!!!!

I believe from the research I have done the people who were killed, were in the USA legally living and working in the St. George, UT area in construction and maintenance. If you kill someone with a car in Nevada, you go to jail. If you kill four people in Nevada you ought to go to jail for a long time. If you kill people, with a patrol car, while serving to protect public safety you ought to go to prison for a very long time, loose your job, loose your benefits. There is a gross disregard for life and property displayed on the roadways of Southern Nevada every minute of every day. The lack of enforcement for the sake of public safety is culpable. This incident ought to be made an example for those who risk the lives and property of their fellow citizens here all day, everyday. If the police are not held accountable for their behavior, how are the citizens to be held accountable?

I hope this cop gets nailed to the cross! I get tired of these guys playing God. The state cops are always driving over the speed limit and if it was one of us. Bam! a ticket! Protest to your selectmen and congressmen of Nevada to make a change. Oh, while I am at it. Stop killing people who have a knife or nothing in there hands!
It does not take ten cops with bullit proof vests to stop someone who is messed up in the head. Thats murder! Real tuff guys. This country is losing everything it is suppose to be. We had a president getting head and cops getting away with murder!

No, not all cops are bad but even the good ones tend to hide behing the blue wall of silence.....

This trooper.... should be in jail!!! Where are his blood tests for drugs and alcohol?
Any other citizen would be in jail. But not this guy.

The police jurisdictions in the Las Vegas area, Metro, NLVPD, and now the Nevada Troopers all have a hand at bringing on the bad press.... Just look at; Redeker, Gloria Parker (they caused her death), the NLVPD lieutenant whose wife stole drug evidence, the officer who was charged with molestation, tasers on pregnant women.. HELLO?!?! These are just examples of people thinking they're above the law. Bullies who think that can do anything.. Don't let this guy get away with murder!!

Hey Rex, do your homework. Your comments about "barely needing a high school diploma" are not correct. I know a few of those guys, and the accident investigations they do are complex using algebraic equasions. Why don't you give it a crack? Talking smack and judging 1 million of your fellow citizens based upon their occupation is just plain ignorant. Your assumptions are inaccurate.

I have no special affinity for this particular cop, he should be punished severely. Your quote that cops will "lie and cover up for each other" is surprising. How do you know that? If someone said your funeral is nothing more than a freeway clogger, wouldn't you be a bit "us vs.them" in thinking? They are human beings just like you. If you were to be dealt with by law enforcement, you are guaranteed certain things, like innocent until proven guilty. Why is it different in this case? Are you such a cop-hater that you actually think you know better when it comes to investigations like this? It is way too easy to sit in your armchair and second guess and snipe when you obviously don't know what you are talking about.

Steve, your quote was most disturbing. A knife in the hand is not worthy of deadly force? Ok. You stand 10 feet away from me. You have a nice pistol that you have been trained to use. You have the authority to use it. I will stand with a knife, and walk at you while I am telling you I am going to cut your head off. I will disregard your commands to stop. Bullet proof vests don't cover your neck and head. Would you think about your family, or would you think about people like yourself who think cops should "take one for the team?" Wouldn't he be quite ineffective as a cop if he ran away? How about if I expect you to get cut or possibly killed by a guy with a knife? Would that be ok? What if the officer was by himself? You are the tough guy talking like you wouldn't shoot him. I would imagine that knowing there are people like everyone who posted here about lies, cover-ups, etc, would make it hard to be nice to people. Some of you actually wrote that you knew what that officer was doing or thinking. WOW!! Put your application in people, the cops could use mind readers who know exactly what to do and how to do it.

Rex, I used to clerk in a law office in Vegas, and in cases of this magnitude, the report is done and submitted to the DA, who decides whether or not to prosecute. No arrests are made immediately unless there is obvious impairement by alcohol or drugs. It takes several weeks for the blood and urine to be tested. It hasn't been nearly long enough for the tests to return. By the way, you again claim that he was a bully. Do you know ANYTHING about this officer's history? Does it matter? Come on people. You even claim to know that the good cops hide behind the blue wall of silence. As an attorney, I can tell you it is nearly impossible to lie and get away with it for any length of time in this job. You lying at your job may or may not result in action against you. Them lying at their job will result in documentation and a severe loss of credibility, which will mean their job. Once again, it is way too easy to sit back and say you know what they were thinking. All of you need to be a cop for just a few days before you say incredibly hateful, ignorant things like you have here. And for whoever wrote about quotas, you are not correct. Quotas are illegal in Nevada. Is it that important to you people to marginalize and reduce what they do? If you have never done the job, you don't have much room to talk like you have been.
John

By the way Steve, how do they play God? By being stern with a hostile public? Jesus you people are arrogant to assume. I have been an attorney for a long time, and have seen far, far more cases of a good faith mistake and not negligence or "playing God". Most bad things about cops are given life and longevity by people like all of you. I realize none of you make mistakes, and when you do it's not your fault, but how about giving some of the slack you expect when it's your turn? Is that so unreasonable? I think not.

GEEZ JOHN ...are YOU a cop? sounds like you have a little chip on your shoulder or an axe to grind... READ what I said.. Not all cops are bad.. but like any other profession, there are always a few bad apples.

Barely a high school diploma IS CORRECT. No, a few algebraic equations does NOT a college grad make.. and by the way I have a college degree that required much more than algebra.. so I HAVE GIVEN IT A CRACK, JOHN!!

How do you know what I know about cops? I have many friends and family who are cops.
Cases like this are what gives them a bad rap.

Steve is right.. they are very capable of "playing God" ... and why are you accusing the entire public of being hostile?

This cop is wrong... DEAD WRONG and he is absolutely being given preferential treatment.
GET OFF IT JOHN... and do YOUR homework!!!!!!
John

#18 Mar 7, 2006
Rex, are you saying that they are less than you because you have a college degree? The fact that YOU THINK they only need a high school diploma does not mean none of them have degrees. I am not a cop, and I have no axe to grind. I have worked with and against officers from a multitude of agencies. If you have friends and family that are cops, would you say things like you did in your post about them? Would you judge them without a trial? By the way, I have cross-examined several Troopers, mostly in rural areas. Approximately 90% of them have college degrees. No, a few equations does not make you a college graduate, but being a college graduate does not instill common sense or fair play, which you have made abundantly clear. Does not having a college degree make you a bad cop?
John

#19 Mar 7, 2006
By the way Rex, doing algebra in the comfort of a classroom or your home is far different than doing it when it's 120 degrees or raining or snowing. Knowing what to measure and how to apply the formula is a big part of that, so I don't think you have given it a crack. I agree with the few bad apples part of your post. It is truly unfortunate that most zero in on the bad apple and hold several hundred people accountable for the actions of one.

Lastly Rex, you are not in Nevada. If you seek out the state website, you can find the minimum qualifications necessary to be a Nevada State Trooper. You need a specific amount of time in the military or a college degree. So it would appear that you didn't do your homework after all. I did eight years of homework to get my law degree in Nevada, and this is something that I know a lot more about than you.
