Work40.org founder Ted Burris was recently furloughed from a local corporation along with others. "Companies all over the Metro are laying off or furloughing workers and at the same time working their other employees significant overtime hours. The results are devastating to the community. High unemployment rates, Higher rates of Homeless in our communities. and Higher health insurance rates are just a few of the many costs communities endure when companies choose to ignore thier responsibilities to workers, thier families and the community as a whole." -- Ted Burris
To help gain attention and support for his cause Ted will bicycle to Jefferson City, MO. and Topeka KS. to meet with law makers and promote legislation to stop the use of threats and coercion in the workplace to force overtime on employees. "Corporate greed has caused corporations to lose thier focus on doing whats right for customers, employees, and thier families. Lawmakers must be informed so that checks and balances can be put inplace.
I have the free time now, I might as well use it to promote whats right.
-- Ted Burris
