According to the sign in front of the town hall there is a board meeting January 3rd @ 7:00PM (tomorrow, Tuesday). This is supported by the posting on the town's website. However, on the same page of the website it states that board meetings are held on the 2nd THURSDAY of each month. I'm a little confused as to the actual date so I looked it up in the public notices of Times of Ti (our place to post the required legal notices). I found two postings.

"The Town Board of the Town of North Hudson will hold The Town Board of the Town of North Hudson will hold its Organizational Meeting on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 6:30 Pm in the North Hudson Town Hall. The Regular Monthly Meeting will follow at 7:00 PM.
Sarah Vinskus, Town clerk
Town of North Hudson
Appeared in: Times of Ti on Saturday, 01/07/2012"

The other posting was for the December year end meeting (already held)

"The Town of North Hudson Town Board will hold its ÒEnd of the YearÓ Meeting on Thursday. December 29, 2011 to 7:00 PM . The Board will hold its Organizational Meeting on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 7:00 PM. The Regular Monthly Meeting will be conducted at 7:30 PM following the Organizationall Meeting. All Meetings will be held in the North Hudson Town Hall.
Sarah Vinskus, Town Clerk"

So I'm not sure what the actual date of the meeting is but I have to assume the legal meeting is on the 10th as it is required to be legally posted. However, it could just be "business as usual" so if anyone is interested in welcoming our new supervisor, I suggest you show up tomorrow.

Just a quick little note. I noticed that the minutes of the earlier December meeting are already on the town's website. Kudos to whoever did that as we don't normally get them that fast. However, I did notice that it was not mentioned that the town is looking for a new member for the board of assessment review. Amy Garcia stepped down from her position. Sorry to see you go Amy. As a former assessor, it was a pleasure to work with you. When former supervisor Dobie asked if anyone was interested, Hugh Myrtle expressed his interest. Since there was no one else interested, I hope the current administration will put aside their hard feelings and do the right thing. You have a member of the community who wants to be involved and if you truly are interested in what the people want, you will consider this interested candidate.

Why start trouble now. Its been quite for a while and you have to stir things up just for your amusment. Why dont you just let the guy do his job and leave it alone. He as elected by the majority of the people.

I realize the concept of following proper procedure is foreign to many in this town as we've gotten acustomed to our leaders doing as they please regardless of the law.

There are new people interested in attending board meetings hoping that the practices of the past are gone with the previous administration. Advertising conflicting dates and times for the meetings is a sure fire way of discouraging attendence. I'm hoping this was just an oversight as I would hate to believe this is how things are going to be consistently done. With the way things have gone in this town for the last year, I was looking forward to a new beginning regardless of who got in. If this is starting "trouble", then please consider me a class a "troublemaker".

I have to say it was an interesting board meeting. I have to clear up the confusion about the meeting dates. Tonights meeting was a "special" meeting and not the organizational or regular board meeting. It had to do with the town board going into executive session regarding personel and litigation issues. It was handled well as public input was not only considered but encouraged. I am still dumbfounded as in the past, it would have been an 11am "get together" with no regards to rules or laws.
I would like to say welcome to Laurie, as I have not had the oppurtunity to do so previously. I would also like to say to Ron Moore, good luck and remember that 50% voted for change. Judging by tonights meeting, I think you know that. It was a pleasure leaving a board meeting with jokes and laughs and not being forced out by the ridicule of some fool with a chip on their shoulder. I look forward to working with you, not against you
