L.A. Synagogue Shooting Investigated As Hate Crime, Man Detained

Los Angeles police have released a 17-year-old boy detained after a shooting wounded two men at a North Hollywood synagogue.

If you are a non-Jew who does ANYTHING to a Jew then it is a "hate crime". Who knows when this will all stop? Pretty soon they will start executing non-Jews who even dare question the holocaust or say anything negative about Jews.

Police initially feared the attack was a hate crime and briefly held a black teenager who matched a vague description of the attacker. The 17-year-old was released a short time later, and police continued their hunt for the assailant.

Mori Ben-Nissan, 38, and Allen Lasry, 53, were shot in the legs in the parking garage underneath the Adat Yeshurun Valley Sephardic Orthodox synagogue ...

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and other officials moved to calm fears that the attack was part of any organized anti-Semitic violence.

"We certainly recognize the location and we're sensitive to that," Deputy Police Chief Michel Moore said. "But we do not know that this was a hate crime at all."

The victims, who were hospitalized in good condition, told police the attacker did not speak or take anything from them.

Sounds like the story's headline jumps the gun a bit. The initial frenzy to call it a "hate crime" has calmed down.

One of the news media's problems is the rush to print a story or half a story or the wrong story.
