I returned a book to the Matamoras Library. Months later when I was there the librarian told me that I had not returned the book and needded to pay for it. I paid about $35 in cash. She took the money and went back to the office. I didn't think anything more about it until I had to look up some more information on the same subject and found the book on the shelf. It was the SAME book that I had paid for and even had some of my notecards still in it as bookmarks. I spoke to the librarian about it and was told that she didn't know what I was talking about, there was no record of that book being lost and even if I had paid for a book, they did not give refunds. I informed the people at the main library about the problem, but NOTHING has been done. Now I read in the newspaper that the Washington County Library is cutting $175,000 from their budget and they plan to get rid of the Bookmobile. If they would get rid of the some sticky-fingered people that work for them, maybe they wouldn't need to make such big budget cuts.

You're right. The sticky fingered employees should be eliminated before the bookmobile. About the book-You should have refused to pay. The Matamoras Librarian does that to people she doesn't like. One of her favorite things to do is to talk bad about people. People talk about her, so she thinks that she has the right.

You people shouldn't talk bad about the librarian. She needs money for her medical expenses and gets it the only way she knows how. Leave her alone.

Betty B, how can you live in New Matamoras, the gossip center of the world, and not have heard about the money problems at the library? You need to get out more.

One more...I am not sure about being against fighting breast cancer, but anybody that pays for something and does not see it go in a register, or gets a receipt should not be in a library, or Walmart for that matter. Maybe instead of closing the bookmobile they should have closed the library in New Matamoras

What, you are correct about closing New Matamoras, from what I hear they are a bunch of druggies that can't be trusted and read anyway.

The problem with the library is you take a complaint to the director and nothing getrs done, there is a girl who works at the Belpre library who dresses so unprofessional she lets it all hang out, She is also loud and obnoxious. But she still works there and still dresses that way. Maybe if they would get some professional people towork in these libraries people would support them better

makes you wonder why the management allows such things, it just shows there is no leadership whether its the main library or the branch ones. We need someone who isn't afraid to talk to their employers about their dress or attitude or actions. If you can't address the problems then you should not be in a leadership position

oh and i mean if the director doesnt have the guts to tell his other managers how to handle something, maybe he should not be in his postition and if the people running the branches doesn't have the guts to tell their people that they should act better. Isn't the library run by a board. Wonder if they know about how the complaints are handled. I do know that for the most part the people at Belpre are helpful and considerate but I also know there is one there that loves to talk to her friends and ignores others, one that doesnt seem to know what she is doing and gets rude when she can't figure out something and one that always has headphones on and ignores others.

I am sure the good service outweighs the bad at any library.

The librarian at Matamoras doesn't have medical expenses and doesn't have breast cancer.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Taurus

It's important that you leave yourself plenty of room to manouvres during the weeks ahead, as Mercury turns retro today, especially when it comes to making decisions and airing your opinions to the world. You need to be as flexible as possible right now, otherwise you could find that you've boxed yourself into a corner and have to do some serious back-tracking. You need to consider all points of view and not just your own.
