Stop & Shop to lay off 850 in North Haven

I applaud S&S for trying to help reduce their P&L.
Folks, unions are not what they were in the 30's and 40's. They are simply money hungry institutions that should be eliminated for the sake of the american consumer. When was the last time you heard Wal-Mart laying off anyone eh?
Unions force companies to pay higher wages that are undeserving, then they require you to pay dues which are akin to an italian shake down. They do absolutely nothing for their members exept convince the parent company to try to figure out how to get rid of the union!.
Unions are meant for the protection of laborers and do not belong anywhere near the retail enviroment. Look at how they bankrupted the auto industry.:-(

Stop & shop has done some shady things in the past and current. They made the security employees take a class on how not to put their hands on any shoplifters or you would be fired on the spot. Well I just had a higher up in asset protection which is the new name assault me when I wanted to leave by grabbing my arm and slamming me into a wall. Why are they allowed to put their hands on us are they better than us or what? I remember back when store #409 now #421 had a cash office lady who was stealing money from the cash office and this women was married to at the time Senator Tom Norton from Massachusetts and because this women's husband had pull he made a call to the ceo of Stop & Shop and made sure the women still now at this time collects her full pension from stop & Shop and she was never prosecuted for the shoplifting how is that there is many other things that have happened at the company bonuses that Market Managers get sometimes are close to $100,000.00 that they get in Febuary does anyone else see a problem with this in todays economy?
