But of course my picture didn't get front page coverage of the newspaper. The last time I participated in a scenario such as this, healthy animals died as well.

Cat fight going on here in this letter. The last line was enough said. We did not need all the other drama in this letter.

It may be true the last line was enough. But, if that's all she said, then it's sound like another Bob Barker sound bite, and everyone would probably ignore it like they normally do...

I have a hard time listening to this woman ramble about the cat problem. A few years back, I found 2 cocker spaniels wandering a back road. They were matted, flea infested, and starved. I paid to have them checked by a vet, groomed, and treated for fleas and ticks. When I reached out to her for help, she informed me that at the time she didn't 'have room' to house the dogs, but that the dog warden would house them at the pound until she could place them. When I arrived at the pound, the warden was unaware of this arrangement, and phoned Ms. Berry. Apparently they don't realize the amplified volume on their phone, because I heard her say to him - verbatim - "Just do what you want with them. I don't have time to deal with it." Needless to say I walked out, found them homes on my own, and have never directed ANYONE I know to her organization. There are plenty of rescues out there who actually care. These two are a joke.

"Just do what you want with them. I don't have time to deal with it." Does this woman get paid to have this attitude?

I agree.. I phoned this woman a while back because I was sick of seeing that poor horse in a dog sized kennel up in that trailer court off of 171 and 43. I was told that she had received lots of calls and "checked it out" and because the horse/pony had food and water it was being well cared for! Whatever.. how about room to move around and decent shelter lady! Last time I checked those darn metal dog kennels were cruel enough for dogs to not have much space but a full size horse?? get real.. and lets not even mention that the shelter consisted of some ratty blue tarps draped over the kennel! And guess what folks.. it's still there; the horse in the kennel that is. It disgusts me how people say they love/care for animals. Animals are a full time and very expensive job. Don't get them if you don't have the time, energy, money and above all space for them! And apparently forget trying to help them in Carroll County.. what a joke!

Yes, everyone wants a pet, but not enough want to give it the proper care. Even if you have an outside only cat, it needs to be spayed and neutered. Kittens can go into heat or start impregnating other cats as young as six months of age. If you just have a male not neutered that is only a year of age, he could have found enough females to create dozens of kittens already! Use your head people! You love your pets, have enough respect to take preventative action so they don't overpopulate the area. These females have anywhere from 1-8 kittens per litter on average and 2-3 litters per year. What happens to these kittens that don't find homes? People drop them off on the side of the road to be killed in traffic, die of starvation, or get picked up by less heartless people who incur an insane amount of debt caring for a problem that shouldn't be theirs! There are organizations to contact to help with the debt of spay and neutering. All you have to do is spay and neuter your own animals, and you won't have to worry about taking care of it ever again. It isn't an ongoing medical bill, and it often prolongs the life of your pet.

What did you expect from a gun and hunting crazed county like Carrol? You don't care for animals. You either shoot them or wait until you starve them to death and then eat 'em.
