It hasn't been a decent fair it almost 10 years. I would rather have no fair than a lame one.

I guess Albemarle is too gentrified and sophisticated to have a dedicated fairgound like so many neighbors do. Maybe because Thomas Jefferson didn't have one and they're following His example.

Sorry the fair hasn't had much appeal in the last 10 plus years. It's not worth the money you have to spend on admission then for the games and food once you are there. I would much rather spend my money on a nice meal and movie or a concert.

change the dates while you're changing location. To my recollection its rained every year during the fair for at least the last 5 years. And August is too hot to be attending.

The fair has not been good for along time. Just do away with it unless you are going to really bring some better stuff to it to make it worth the money!!!

Darden-Towe park.

More people would come since its closer to population.

You would even have repeat visitors...families and teens that go twice to the fair or more.

We need a demolition derby. A fair is no fair without one.

Have it on the north end of the county, give the cops somewhere else to pester drivers.

Why not partner with a nearby county to have a SHARED fair that will actually be big enough to be worthwhile? Why does each county have to have it's own fair?

They need to redo the whole 'County Fair' thing. The fair has been going down hill for some time now because they allow the company that provides the rides take over everything. It needs to go back to a county fair them where locals provide food, entertainment, and exhibits. People get tired of spending $10 for a sandwich from the carnival company. Plus, the people running these things creep me out - America's Most Wanted.
Bring back pie contest, local bands, church group food courts, 4-H and the like. Make it country, not a sex-offender run mini Kings Dominion on wheels.

My husband and I love the county fair. We know people who are on the board and how much work they put into it. If you think you have better ideas then ask to be on the board. All I see are complaints but only two suggestions to help make it better. There will be a booth selling less expensive foods and drinks, come out and support the fair. That's the only way to make it better.

Why can't a rich county like Albemarle have a fairground site like Rockingham County? They have rest rooms, permanent structures for their exhibits, decent walk-ways, and lots of activities during the fair. They have events all year that support the location.

It's in mid-August, and it's usually hot, but worth the trip. Big farm country -- big deal for the residents. I guess it's a matter of priorities.

The complaints are valid so hush, it needs to be much closer to town and even a designated bus route while its open might help. But to drive that far to pet animals and get held up at food stands ain't no fair.

We always got a laugh out of the sweaty boy scout auxiliary deputies running around in full duty gear parking cars. Those dudes were out of their mind to put up with that unpaid gig - and that's spoken from personal experience.
