If the county goes ahead and Chief Eggleston directs both the career and volunteer personel in an effort to provide a better emergency service, how can this be viewed as anything but positive? Chief Stephens should realize that the volunteers will still be a vital part of the community.

Unfortunately, this news report totally ignored the fact that this will also affect volunteer rescue squads, as well as fire departments. This only adds to the public misconception that the fire department and the rescue squad are the same thing, when in fact, they are not.
