can't say enough about the fire department. but to ask for tax payer money for a museum is laughable. raise money. the community loves you guys. if one can afford it, one will give it. a fire museum is not a necessity right now.

This is not something that tax money should be going towards.

Yes, I agree taxpayer money should not go towards this project. We already pay enough and we don't even get anything back from it now.

Why is it about Hanover and Penn? I thought it said Hanover Area? What about the companies that Hanover and Penn closed down. Couldn't they get things from the closed stations or even make the old PArkville station into the fire museum.

I see bad planning and its once again about Hanover & Penn. There are other local Hanover area companies also. WAKE UP!! Just because they are not Career and the volunteers go thru the same training.

"Frank" above is correct. What about the two fire companies closed down by the wisdom of the local governments. In the case of Hanover Fire Company #1, they were the FIRST department in the Borough organized in 1816. Many, if not most, of the artifacts are from that Company. HFC #1 is currently running an ambulance transport business, both ALS and BLS, in conjunction with HealthStat Medical Solutions. The business is growing and HFC #1 will be seeking ways to donate their part of the profits back to the community. Maybe the museum committee should have enough guts to approach HFC #1 about their support in the future. It would be a dignified way for HFC #1 to once again support the community as they did up to 2006 for 190 years. When HFC #1 stopped operations out of Wirt Park Station, a majority of their artifacts were signed over to the Borough for the museum. As far as the old Granger Penn Township station, I am sure they would like to help beyond some display cases. Gets some additional new (or old) blood on this committee and lets get this show on the road.

Lets not make this a you know what match about companies being closed down or who thinks they own what. The building where the fire museum was donated but upkeep etc is by the Borough. As far as Penn Township other than helping out when asked they have no stake in it so why waste your efforts in complaining what they should do with their buildings. I do agree taxpayer money should not be used at this time but if the taxpayer wishes to donate thats fine as well as there still remain some very wealthy. people in the area that may wish to donate.

stupid idea. We need this like another hole-in-the-head.

More waste of tax-payers dollars to satify a few.

These Chiefs need more work to do instead of dreaming stuff like this up.

I am sure anyone that wishes to help raise money and be on the committee would be welcome contact the Hanover Borough Office. To you Frank every time there is something in the news about one of the local fire companies you give another one of your unintelligent comments which everyone is entitled to. The only thing can be said to you is "get over it". Really you have no idea how many hours any fire chief puts in as they don't know how many hours you work either and dreams are something evreyone has and is a positive thing regardless if its needed or not and I agree now is not the time.

I visited this museum last summer. Hanover really has a treasure that you should all go and see sometime. There have a lot of history in that place. I'm sure another community would love to take it off your hands. (just kidding)
