The State of Connecticut "Official Canterbury Town Forum" should be totally Non-Partisan and biased politics do not belong on there.....no matter which side of the isle we all subscribe to.

There were (and still is) links leading to all kinds of Left-Wing sites, as well as the Canterbury First message board. The only person who had the password to place those links on there was the man who signed his name on the e-mail to the Selectmen's office as: Jim Marks, Webmaster, TOWN OF CANTERBURY. It seems he was acting in part of a town official and using a State of Connecticut web server to place these biased links on the official Canterbury site. BTW....this message board is still linked as Town News.

If by chance there were links leading to another "biased" message board, other than the Canterbury First/Paul Santoro follower board.....many people would also be complaining. It's not rocket science that is does not belong on the official forum.

I have searched many other local Town web sites listed under the State of Connecticut, and as of yet I have not found any political agendas being pushed through.....Only in Canterbury.

Next, whatever passes through the Selectmen's office becomes public information and that includes e-mails. If the Selectmen refuses to give that requested info out, a simple FOI would do the trick.

Seeing how Mr. Mark's could not be reached for comment, we are just curious as to who is responsible for getting this childish whining out to the press. It seems the DTC Chair was interviewed and when the reporter called, he told me he wanted a different side. Hmmmmm?

Donna...This plan seriously backfired on the "clever" person who contacted NOT only the Norwich Bulletin but Channel 3 News. This story was hardly worth front page news much less Channel 3 covering it live.

But Thanks to Whomever because it proves that Neil Dupont can handle himself quite well with the press and when faced with problem...Takes charge of the situation...Speaks honestly and handles the matter without the expense of calling every attorney on the town's payroll and does the right thing.

Clearly these folks who leaked the story to the press were hoping to embarrass the First Selectman, Neil Dupont. However, you are messing with a man of integrity and not the lunatic (former First Selectman, Paul Santoro) these folks still support.

I think it was worth the coverage. If this guy was using a Town web site, which is supplied by the state, to publish links for specific political party sites I think that's just plain wrong. All parties tax money pays for the state site and they shouldn't be used for political agendas. It's called accountability.

Their plan backfired during the past election and it has backfired again. I look so forward to the next meeting to see how many Canterbury First members whine about this issue. Neil did the right thing in this situation and any other respectable public figure would have done the same.
I am also sure that the "Official Town" web site will now be run like it's supposed to be....Nonpartisan.

For the record, the 'volunteer resigned after 1st. selectman Dupont requested the user ID and password from the volunteer. My question, how can you fire someone after they resign from the position? Sounds like Dupont has been caught lying to the press.

No, he did not lie to the press. BTW, I think the "volunteer" knew exactly what he was doing by placing those links on the town forum...and it sure was not the first time. imo, "volunteer" knew he was done and I find him and the whole "cult" quite "shady" and extremely dishonest. Good Riddance to "volunteer" and the "cult".

Openminded...The volunteer, Jim Marks, refused to give the First Selectman, Neil Dupont, the password to the Town's Official website. That is why he was fired.
