It amazes me that people will stand firm behind the tobacco companies (who help millions of people basically kill and maim themselves), but they all out badmouth the american cancer society, who are NON-PROFIT (unlike the tobacco companies) and they HELP people who are going through a horrible situation. Verrrrrry ironic!
After this fiasco in Ohio, they might just lose their being tax exempt.
Can you give one name of a person that the ACS has helped?

Smokefree Ohio utilized the American Cancer Society building at 5555 Frantz Road Dublin , Ohio worth $2,970,000! The ACS pays no property taxes on this building thus burdening the residents with higher property taxes to support the Schools! Smoke Free Ohio also had at their disposal a large data base that even big tobacco could never muster. It had at its disposal the CDC. National Cancer Institute, the Johnson Foundation, Phizer Pharmacuticles, American Cancer Society, American Cancer Action Network, American Heart and Lung Association. Now with all that logistical networking, tax free money to blow at will you would have to admit it would be difficult to match that financial backing along with the media giving free media to them as a public service!
Now the ACS/Smoke Free spent a reported $3,000,000 on issie 5 from another antm smoking cartel member it was reported they spent $10,000,000! After looking at tax returns filed by the ACS it would not surprise me to find out they filed fraudulent campaign expenditures with the Ohio Secretary of State!
For a example the Ohio American Cancer Society told the IRS upon their 990 they spent $93,457.00 FY Sep1 05 - Aug31 06 requested data for 2006.
Smoke Free Ohio in the Ohio Secretary of States campaign finance listed the Ohio ACS as donating $162,991.13 FY Sep1 05 - Aug31 06

These are the donations Smoke Free Ohio claimed to the Ohio Secretary of State in campaign donations $162,991.13 on grass roots lobbying in FY Sep1 05 - Aug31 06
DIFFERENCE OF $69,534.13 THE ACS IS LYING!

These are the donations Smoke Free Ohio claimed to the Ohio Secretary of State in campaign donations Grass roots lobbying donations.$578,899.05 FY Sep 01 06- Aug 31 07
THIS WHAT THEY CLAIMED ON THEIR TAX RETURN $8,353.00 FY Sep 01 06- Aug 31 07 Tax return line 36 (b) page 81
$570,546.05 DIFFERENCE
TAX FRAUD BIG TIME!

HAH!!!!! BIG SURPRISE!! This from tobacco campanies, some of the biggest LIARS and MONEY HUNGRY companies in the USA! Of course they hate the American Cancer Society. They'd hate anyone who might cut into their big ole' profit margins. TALK ABOUT THE POT CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK!!!!
Yeah, go ahead, dog the American Cancer Society for trying to help people going through cancer, and trying to help prevent people from getting addicted to begin with. Shame on them for helping others!

So you are saying the Attorney General's records and income tax records are from tobacco companies.
You really need to smoke a cigarette to clear your mind.

I too have and do know cancer patients. It's so sad.
One girl told me just lately that all they ever gave her was some literature to read. No help with fuel to get to her treatments, nothing. I have never talked to any of the patients that they have helped.
What exactly did they give to the ones you say they helped?

the smoking ban is going away soon. the state has already admitted it can't afford to pay someone to be a "smoker police". since there's nobody around to enforce the rule, and now they find out the petition is invalid, hopefully soon they'll just throw it out.

That is really sad. I have a lot of sympathy for anyone going through this disease. I don't know everything about the American Cancer Society, I just know what I've seen from my experience, and that has been nothing but good things. I'm sure they have their faults just like everyone else, no one's perfect. But personally I think it is a wonderful organization and I support it 100%. Do you hate the AMC itself, or do you just hate the fact that you can't smoke in public places anymore and you blame them for that? Serious question - no sarcasm implied.

Oh, to answer your questions... One of the good things I've seen the ACS do is hold self-esteem classes for children with cancer.
And I don't think I signed the petition, but I would have in a heartbeat if given the chance. I feel very strongly that non-smokers and their children should be able to go out in public and not have to breath in toxic cigarette smoke. The opposition to the ban have been trying to come up with a way to remove it from day 1, so they make any outrageous claim they can. The people of Ohio have voted, and that's what they want. So why try to overturn it? Do the voters not get to decide anymore because it didn't go their way? That's not the way America works.(Not the way it's supposed to anyhow)

The ACS lies. I hate liars.
No, it isn't the fact of being allowed to smoke.
It is the fact of private property rights. The property owner should have the right to say what goes on on his property.
Also, were you ever forced to go into a business if you knew they were doing something inside you didn't like? I believe that is against the law.
Wouldn't signs be a wonderful invention? Such as Smoking Establishment or This is a Non Smoking Establishment
I will never give a dime to an organization like the ACS because they don't help cancer patients.
If I know a cancer patient, I will be more than happy to give them that money, because I know they will benefit from it. I have done that. And it will not give some CEO millions of dollars a year to run ACS.
This is an outrage. This matter will be investigated for all the wrongs they have and are doing. Count on it.

I believe there was 47 FELONS that collected the petitions. It would bother me very much to know one of them had my name and address.
As far as over turning it. Why did the ballot state that private clubs, and family owned businesses would be exempt, and the law wasn't even written until after the voting occurred? Did you know you voted on what you could call a blank ballot?

These also are not outrageous claims, they are a proven fact.
Watch the video, this is just a drop in the bucket of some of the lies that got this issue on the ballot.

If you would rather donate $$$ to people yourself, thats great. I say go for it. But I still stand behind the ACS, because they've made HUGE efforts to fight and end cancer. They work in endless ways to HELP FIGHT CANCER. Hate them if you want, thats your choice, I just can't understand it. I know you are addicted to cigarettes and it's hard to be without them, but there are people who don't want to die from your second-hand smoke, and that's their right.

It's also a proven fact that the voters of Ohio voted, and they voted for a smoking ban. Enough said. We voted, and that's what the majority wanted. Get over it already.

If a felon wants your address, they can find it on Google. I'm more worried about your second-hand smoke killing me than a felon looking through a bazillion address' to find out someone's address. It'd be a lot quicker to Google them.

How many people do you know that have died from second hand smoke?
As a matter of fact, how many do you know have died from smoking?
Do you have death certificates that state that was the cause of death?

You should really report this to law enforcement that you were forced to smell second hand smoke.
Who forced you? They should be in jail.

Daily Horoscope for December 17

Pisces

If you want to make the best of the day you should lock yourself away and work on your own. This will make it easier to concentrate, especially if you're trying to focus on something that's fiddly or difficult. If you've got something on your mind at the moment it will be worth having a quiet word in someone's ear because they'll help you to get things into their proper perspective.
