I have never rented from Aaron's, but if
I did, I would return everything!

Out of all the home furnishings rental places out there, I found Aaron's the better value, at least for renting big screen TVs and gaming equipment for a few days for a party weekend.

However, someone needs to be really desperate to want to rent a PC from those places. They charge a fortune for some of the lowest spec computers out there. If you "rent to own", the value of the PC drops within months and you're still paying for a worthless piece of technology for an additional 9 to 21 months.

We rented a pc from premiere rental by walmart in york off east market st. When we were late a collection company called and said they will shut the pc down if we didnt make a payment. So I would say while we never got a picture and our situation wasnt this level it does show you are being watched !

We rented because for us we lost most electronics in a fire from water damage. So while we waited for insurance to give us our first payment while they did there paperwork stuff it was the easier option with all the other things going on at the time. Needless to say yes you can get a new pc for around 500. I think 300 you said is a little low especially if you need a monitor etc. Needless to say we only needed it for 3 weeks and then we returned it ! Oh and this was 2 years ago.

If all you needed to do was surf the net and a few other basic tasks, rent the PC, boot it using a free distribution of a Linux "Live CD", and surf the net all you want without the threat of a remote shutdown (or spying).

Or the threat of viruses or spyware. After all, you're going to be giving it back.
