I agree with you 100%. you don't need money to take pride in yourself and where you live.

I lived in lakeside for years Its sickens me to see it look the way it does I do know that those lots are privately own I think the land lords should be mabe to clean it up we all can't afford to live in big houses in nice neighborhoods the people who cares shouldn't be mabe paid for the ones who don't

<quoted text> hi im a farr creek and lakeside girl but heres the thing not everyone that lives in those places are bad.some really cant afford a place or just have nowhere else to go.we did however have to get ourselves a stronger exterior to cope with our everyday lives.im not defending lakeside atall dont think that cause it does need a lot of work done to it. just dont judge a person from where they come from.
I have lived in Elkton all my life. Farr creek and lakeside are two places that need to be cleaned up. I ve partied in both places and the only reason was because that is where the crack and herion was. They wouldn't be such bad places if they would clean up and get all the trouble makers and crack heads out of their. I feel for the people who can't afford to get away from those places. They are not all bad people, just because they live in trailers. I use to live in a trailer park and it was nothing like lakeside. It was quiet and clean. No trouble. It is those trouble makers and crack heads who make those places so bad. The people who don't cause trouble need to put their foot down and get those places cleaned up.

People need to do something about themselves, not depend on the county or state to do something. They have to WANT to change. They need to ask what kind of life do they really want and how can they achieve it. They do not have to succumb to the life they are leading. We all have choices, we can settle or we can decide that we want better -- better for ourselves and better for our children and future generations.

Not all of us in Lakeside chose to live there or choose to live as others there do. I had my credit ruined by my ex-husband because of his decision to ruin his life and try to take me and the kids with him. I decided to get a divorce and get far away from him by leaving Harford County. I still had to stay close enough for my job since I would now be raising 3 kids on my own without any support from him or the government. When I went to buy another house I found I could not because of fraud he had committed and even tried to press charges but the prosecuting attorney dropped the charges saying it would be too hard to prove since we were married. This left me in a pickle and having to find a place to rent with 3 bedrooms and around $1,000 a month. What I found was a "rent to own" option in Lakeside with a 3 year lease.(don't fall for this...this is a way for the landlord to get you in at high rent and not feel the need to do any repairs if you have an issue) At first I thought at least I was moving in the direction of ownership again and really couldn't find what I was looking for anywhere in my price range so I felt I had to take it. I was sorry a month later after the 1st break in to my screen porch. I have had a bike and mo-ped stolen and my truck written on with a sharpie. I have seen 2 trailers by my house burn down, houses raided, and kids left behind. The whole thing sickens me. People keep blaming the teens and I see things differently. If you talk to these kids you would realize their parents or whoever actually has custody are the problem. Most of these kids don't know what a family dinner is about let alone a family. I have since "adopted" half of the teens on my street. I try to show them another way. I let them eat dinner with us, have bonfires with marshmellows and music, and talk to them about staying in school and the future. Since then I have had no trouble at my house which by the way is one of the cleanest houses with no trash or old cars in the yard.
There is a real need for an outreach there for these kids or a community center. The police are only around the corner and seem to focus on the wrong things. The kids that are here and trying to do things other than drugs such as riding 4-wheelers or paint-ball in the woods just get harrassed by the police. The trooper (and I could give a name but I won't) sits outside of the entrance to the woods not far from the garage the bikes get parked in and waits for them nearly ripping them off. The police presence is thought of negatively for acts like this and therefore don't get the help from the community they would hope to get. Respect goes both ways. I have rambled on long enough but really have much more to say. Many people have contributed to the demise of Lakeside....drug addicts and sex offenders of course but also neglectful parents, forgotten children, and law enforcement. EVERYONE NEEDS TO COME TOGETHER TO FIX THIS!!!!!

the front of the park isn't that bad as the other parts of lakeside .you are right about lakeside owners renting to own. It's a rip off.north east needs to get some renter laws there like perryville is getting.I no longer live there any more but my family does, and when i come to visit i see what's going on.to many trashy people have been allowed to move there.why would anyone allow so many sex offenders to live there. money and don't care about the comm.and so many druggies.open air.well good luck briani living there.but people will allow you to watch and feed thier kids to free them up.and if you have kids running in and out the cops will watch your house too.not being mean but it will be known as the hang out spot.
