What was there problem?

Cell phones down so that they couldn't get instructions for Smigiel?

They so egotistical, self-centered and Smipkinized that disrespecting another commissioner plays right into their game plan...Diss anything un-Smipkin...you know, as in anyone with a brain of their own.

They must be waiting to strong arm him into a deal. I can hear the backroom deal now..."Listen Robert, we'll give you this, but you have to promise to kiss our flabby posteriors for this we want whether you agree or not. Jaba the Mickey demands your obedience, or he WILL get even. Just look at what were doing to others who didn't play our game. And don't worry about legal matters or ethics, caus Mickey can fix that with the help of EJ's money. Let's here it now Robert. 1, 2, 3, who do we suck up to...Mickey, Mickey, Mickey, Thphthph!"

Cecilian you are a total backside. If they had given Hodge the OK you would have posted they were showing favorites and no one else could have gotten away with this. All you do is post negative, misleading information on this site without any proof. Get a hobby and stop trying to destroy people

Terry L,

What I expect is EQUAL treatment for all Cecil County Citizens. Hodge, ethically, took himself out of the vote. All they had to do was vote yes or no. But, they couldn't even do that. Yes or no, and give a reason. They just sat there, looked off in different directions, fidgeted and set the issue aside. WHY? Do you, all knowing all seeing TERRY L, have an explanation as to why they couldn't even vote one way or the other?

Show up at a commissioner's meeting to witness for yourself the disgusting behavior of these three. If you don't live in or care about Cecil County, then don't read my posts.

Mullin, Dunn, and Broomell continue their mission of revenge on Smigiel / Pipkin enemies. They are violating their oath of office to"...diligently and faithfully, without partiality or prejudice" execute their offices. Instead they conspire to carry out vendettas. DISGUSTING betrayal of the voters.

Every body knows the connection between the three amigos and Smipkin. I'm not sure about how much "control" Smipkin are exercising over them.

They are too busy screwing us over in Annapolis. Cecil Co has the highest liquor per capita sales in the state. The new 3% tax will hurt local business. Increase in tolls is another one.

Personally, I think the three Amigos have very limited intellectual capacity. Even if you add all three together an adolescent chip would score higher. I don't think they are smart enough to follow Smipkin orders. They fumble and bumble or just stay mute. It's embarrassing(I suspect even for Smipkin).

Sound like most elected officials in Cecil Co.- Commissioners, Sheriff , Dog catcher - all in same boat of revenge if you don't support them. Good old boys /girls club. Watch out they will try and get you. You just have to play the game better with street smarts.

Cecilian in my opinion NO elected official should request any type of zoneing or appeals of any kind while in elected office. They may say they won't vote on something but what has been done behind the scene. We just don't know. Hodge or who ever it might be should wait until they are NO longer in office. Maybe that is the reason Broomell, Dunn, Mullin did not vote or respond. Disgusting Behavior? I don't beleive that for one minute. I know Broomell and Dunn very well and for a long time. If they said nothing they have a very very good reason. Now you Cecilian want to know what that reason might be. Take the time to contact them by email or phone instead of the nasty comments on this site. Thanks for the advice to not read your post I WILL DO JUST THAT. As I don't really enjoy reading fiction any way.

If something was done behind the scenes it would have passed.Dunn and Broomell said nothing because there is no good excuse. Mullin didn't second the motion because the property is in his district? Doesn't he represent the voters of his district? That would mean that 20% of the commisioners would not be able to vote on any matter in their district. Sad situation. Electing ignorant, incompetent, public officials is no way to attract businesses

My opinion is while any elected official is holding an elected office they should not try to change or appeal any of their personel properties. It would not have necessarly passed, it could have caused a delay or maybe more research needed.I am not saying Hodge did something I don't know. I do think Cecilian or you should ask Broomell or Dunn or Mullin why. This has nothing to do with other citizens or business asking for zoning or appeals, it is about an elected official while in office asking for his fellow commissioners and an aapointed planning board to make changes that he could profit from. I would vote that Hodge should wait until he is no longer in office. JUST MY OPINION

A review of the facts: property used for the same purpose since 1972; current owner purchased the property when it was being used for existing purpose; current owner applied for a change that conforms to it's existing use; request approved by Dept. of Planning and Zoning; request approved by Planning Commission (volunteer board. Dunn, Broomell, and Mullin should publicly state their reasons without being asked. Hodge followed the Cthics Commission recommendations. THEY DID NOT SAY HE SHOULD NOT REQUEST A REZONING.

Head of Dept of Planning & Zoning works for the Commissioners. Planning commission yes Volunteers, but appointed by the Commissioners.Hodge should use common sense and not even try to do this while in office.Ethics Commission isn't always correct. See if you can get a copy of their approval. I agree it would be nice if Broomell,Dunn. Mullin would make some statement, but if not ask them.Is it in the Ethics that they have to give a reason. I think NOT.What is Hodges real reason for this request? That would be interesting to hear his answer.

He asked for a zoning change to what it has been used for since 1972. The ethics commission said do not participate in any action on this matter. He did what they said to do.Regardless of whether they were correct, he did nothing wrong. The real reason for the request was to comply with business activity taking place on the property. The only reason Mullin and Dunn can give is that they are SMIPKIN pawns and do what they are told. Broomell attacked Hodge and Lockhart at budget hearings. She should have recused herself due to well documented bias against Hodge. Broomell lives on RTE 222 in Perryville and opposes widening the road, which would harm her property value. Conflict of interest? Dunn filed for office using a vacant house as his residence address.Ethical? Mullin appoints his accountant to the budget review panel? Conflict of interest? WAKE UP.

"Terry L" otherwise known as Billye Jo Jackson,

Here we go again. We know you have been an advocate for Mike Smigiel so here you are, posting under your old alias, attacking Hodge for doing what the Ethics Commission advised. We know you have no knowledge of anything in Cecil County that is more than 2 miles from your lair, so you don't know the facts of that trailer park in the southern end of the county.

It was a cesspool until Hodge took it over and cleaned it up.

You say, as you have in the past to attack your personal and political enemies, that no one who owns property and dares to be a Commissioner, too, should do anything on their land. BUT, dumbo BJ, the comprehensive rezoning is only done every ten years. So by your stupid "math," someone could have to wait up to 20 years to get due process and the rule of law on their land, just because they volunteer to serve the county in an official capacity.

It is in the interests of everyone that the actual lawful use of a property is in agreement with the zoning map designation. Or maybe little Miss BJ wants to throw the residents out of that vastly improved mobile home park, just to settle her political scores and the scores of her Big Boy Buddy.

Terry L. so how about Broomell voting to stop the truck traffic on Cedar Corner Road, the road that backs up to her house. Any conflict of interest there? Sounds like a quieter night sleep to me and a definite conflict of interest. Should the vote have been put off until after she was out of office? Should the free rezoning appeals have been put off until after Hodge was out of office since it affected his properties? What the heck, Mullins not voting? Isn't it his job to represent his constituents? What the heck is Mullins doing taking up space instead of doing his job? Terry, if you bothered to come to the rezoning hearing you would have heard Hodge's reasons for the rezoning requests.

GUESS AGAIN OLE BUDDY!!! I stand by my opinion. If you or anyone on this site have a complaint in regards to an elected official and you have proof go for it. Don't just post it on this or any site. If Hodges property is as you say great and improved why is he making this request? Is this property not grandfathered in as it stands now? Again this is not just about Hodge or anything he has done this is my opinion on what an elected official should do. But I do have one suggestion to you BJBS be careful who you accuse of posting. It could really upset the person you have wrongfuly accused.

BJ BS, Since you have thrown my name out there I will reply. First I would appreciate your not calling me BJ. That was a nick name given to me by my dearly loved and still missed the late Jack DE Witt. Only a few close friends still call me BJ and I do not consider you one of thoes. As for Commissioner Hodge I have nothing against him. Infact, about two years ago I found a problem with the Ethics Code, I sent the information to the Commissioners, Hodge called me and ask for a meeting, he then came to my home we had a nice meeting. Then twice after that on two different subjects I called Hodge and he returned my calls very quickly. Why would I have a problem with Hodge? In the pass you have been on my case over my political views and here you are again. You should be careful that you point fingers at the correct person. When you use my name and attack my friends you have crossed the line. Which you have now done. Is Delegate Smigiel my friend? YOU BET Is Smigiel my close Friend? YOU BET Does Smigiel tell me what to say or how to vote? NO Do we as friends respect each others opinions? YOU BET Did I vote for and have Smigiels large sign in my yard? YOU BET (until the night before election and someone stole it) I haven't spoken to Smigiel since Jan 2011 for a short time at mutual friends memorial service. When I do I will give him your best regards.

Hodge’s request was made with complete transparency. Something the three amigos know nothing about. If they had a problem with it, they should have voiced their objections and voted against it. Perhaps they are planning to amend the minutes to include the things they meant to say. No citizen should have to call a Commissioner to get an explanation of their actions, or lack thereof.

BTW…the head of Planning and Zoning works for the Administrator, not the Commissioners.

Here’s another example of their buffoonery….Feb 18th, Mullen and Dunn announce their budget cuts -$10 million off the current $163 million budget. "We hope this will stimulate conversation," Mullin said. "You can't run from this stuff." So…..on March 15th, they receive a budget briefing from their Budget Manager informing them department requests total $171 million (including a 4% increase in the Commissioner’s department) against estimated revenue of $161 million, including adding 14 new positions. What is Mullen’s reaction?– ask for a waiver of maintenance of effort to cut the Board of Education’s budget, who did not ask for an increase, not part of the $10 million gap and who have already taken action to reduce their budget by $7.6 million. In fact, almost all of the discussion after the presentation was on requesting the waiver. Mullen and Broomell were quick to point out that Cecil County “would not be alone” in asking for a waiver – Queen Anne and Kent intend to do so also (hmm……..who represents the eastern shore?). No comment from Mullen or Dunn expressing disappointment or acknowledgement of the fact that their $10 million spending reduction plan was countered with a $10 million increase.

Interesting side note: The Commissioner’s department budget was posted on the CecilCountySpending.com website last week. It showed a 30% increase in healthcare costs. I questioned the increase via their cost savings survey link on their website. Now the link to their budget request is gone. Last Tuesday, the Commissioner’s tabled a proposal to trim $1 million from the County’s healthcare budget, because they needed time to study the “big” numbers.

Oh, and check out their responses to cost savings suggestions. NONE!

Mike Dunn (AKA Terry L) should man-up, acknowledge his alias, and support Smigiel's good friend Billye Jo Jackson. Is this situation covered under the rule book for Smipkins?
