Well, if milk banks can take donations for preemies in the hospital and SELL them to the hospital for up to $45- per OUNCE...why can't the "breeders" make the money?
That said: Northern California mama here...willing to ship anywhere possible. Healthy, grassroots, earthy vitamin and fish oil taking, non smokin, non drinking, non drugging and willing to undergo testing to prove it for buyers sanity!(cause I know I would test the mama I bought milk from) I have massive stockpile in freezer and constantly producing more than enough to feed my little nurser. Asking $1.50/oz plus shipping.

So women should turn themselves into nothing more than milk cows to supply poorly equipped "mothers" with breast milk?? This is the kind of thing that makes women look bad. WE ARE NOT JUST BREEDERS!! Stop lowering yourself to that level!! Your body is meant to nourish the offsping that comes out of it, not everyone else's. Selling breast milk is no better than women who sell their bodies for sex.
I don't sell my breastmilk but I do donate it. I exclusively pump because my son wouldn't latch on and I had an over abundance of milk. I did not want to throw it away so I donated it to a milk bank. I STILL donate and my son is 7 months old. I don't pump as often as I did in the beginning but I donate A LOT. Last month I donated almost 1500 ounces. I don't consider myself a milk machine or a breeder.

If you want to "help" someone, try donating it instead of selling it. Selling it isn't helping someone, it's helping yourself.

I am willing to ship. Healthy, 26y/o with 2 month old that's 14 lbs (90%+ on pedi chart, never been sick and ahead with most of the developmental milestones), vitamin and fish oil taking, non smokin, non drinking, non drugging and willing to undergo testing to prove it for buyers sanity! I have passed blood work and both my doctor and my son's pediatrition have signed off on our health for donation through the milk bank. I would rather sell direct and for cheaper than the milk bank is selling. I have a stockpile in freezer and constantly producing more than enough to feed my little one. They are stored in 5oz bags for easy bottle prep. Asking $2/oz plus shipping. Feel free to email questions, serious inquiry's only please kimmy811@verizon.net

Yes, wet nurses were not uncommon in bygone days. That's a fact. But if you examine the practice in those days a bit more closely, you'll find that it was performed in person, not by mail order.

I'm not going to say it is wrong for a woman to sell her breast milk. If people will buy it...*shrug*...whatever.

I do, however, think it is an incredibly poignant sign of our capitalistic society. It proves that virtually everything is for sale.

My grandmother is from Germany and she said women over there donate unused breast milk to hospitals all the time for the newborns. I personally would not want my child drinking someone elses milk, but that's just me. Wet nurses have been around from the beginning of time.

The ONLY way I would ever consider using someone elses breast milk would be if I strongly wanted my child to have breast milk and I was unable to provide it but I had a sister who could . I would NEVER give my child a strangers breast milk .

EXCUSE YOU , grow up ... If you would have read correctly you would have seen that I said IF I HAD a sister . I do NOT have a sister and even then I said I would CONSIDER it .. NOT that I would even do it ...
Luckly for me & my children I was able to breastfeed all of them myself . So no need for your cow , goat or man made formulas .. By the rudeness of your comments looks like you could have use some of your moms breastmilk that you didnt get ..

They sell Inflamil, Similac, and all types of other milks for babies that cannot get breast milk, so to me, there is no emergency that would make you HAVE to give your child some strangers breastmilk. Unless the child was allergic to the other forms of milk. It is a nice way to bond, but only if it is in the breast when you are feeding your baby, if you have to use a bottle it's just like giving a bottle of soy milk.
