Public should be concerned about Dartmouth's finances

"What fool would undertake a $9.5 mil wind generator project having no previous experience with such things, with unproven and unknown revenue returns, all the while subjecting the town to the very certain liability of $1 mil a year in P&I costs without planning to offset that liability with adequate additional reserves?"

OUR VIEW: Financial conscience

"Dartmouth lost a great advocate with the resignation of Gregory P. Lynam, a Finance Committee member who was one of the architects of the fiscal policy changes that have made Dartmouth healthier and better-managed over the last few years.

Troubled by what he called a turn back toward "an era of irresponsibility," Lynam resigned in protest after seven years. During his tenure, which was unpaid, he gave the town a great many hours of volunteer labor, analyzing budgets, attending meetings, and compiling information to distribute to key decision-makers."

The chairman of Dartmouth town's Alternative Energy Committee, stepped down from the committee and all public service as of June 30 , 2010 . The retirement came after neighbors filed a lawsuit in Fall River Superior Court in an effort to block the a wind turbine project. The Alternative Energy Committee wanted to place two 400 foot commercial wind turbines in the neighbors backyards.

In addition the SouthCoast is looking at a former Massachusetts State Representative who has failed to make a restitution payment of $638,000 for his failed wind turbine business. This case was also filed in Fall River Superior Court. The former state rep failed to repay $488,000 in restitution. There has been no public comment from the former state rep from his home in Hawaii!

We need to find out what's going on in Fall River Superior Court with Attorney General Martha Coakley and these wind turbine lawsuits! Why all the retirements and people quitting their jobs in Dartmouth all of sudden? What's going on in Bristol County?
