So they never checked the cement until Friday? It is a miracle that the bridge did not collaspe. My hearts go out to so many that are feeling the impact of this closure. I hope our politicians step up to the plate and come up with a fast solution. It is beyond belief that no one taking care of such an important fixture to our communities. Thousands of us depend on that bridge for jobs, healthcare, farming, schools and other important issues. The impact this has had is deep and painful.

As penance for not inspecting the bridge as they should have (underwater), I think the 2 states should subsidize the 2 ferries and provide icebreakers.

You right they should. They should send the third boat from pburgh to one of the ferries. Normally they run two boats in the winter up there. local guy wrote: As penance for not inspecting the bridge as they should have (underwater), I think the 2 states should subsidize the 2 ferries and provide icebreakers.

I can't believe the ineptness of our elected officials - on both sides of the lake. What about people who have to use the Burlington Airport? I know a lady who goes for her cancer treatments in Boston once every two weeks. What about people like her? For people like her it's a matter of life and death. And from what I understand the ferry is backed up for hours. They really have to do something fast because this has the capacity to totally wreak the economy (beyond what's going on already) of both states.
