What has happened to the Battery? It used to be that the homes were well kept and emaculate and now there are signs of deterioration with almost every home. Doesn't Charleston have a historic society that can help maintain such a beautiful section of the city?

I maybe a yankee, but I live in the south amongst some ignorant soitherners. Those houses are of historical value. If you tear down every old building, there would be nothing left of our past to pass down. Would you tear down the white house or the vatican?

they should build new homes there or some condos them old buildings are a eyesore. Downtown has standards, why should mount pleasant get all the new houses!
