If you post ALL of their names publicly, perHAPS you may save some of these kids from their alcohol abuse by allowing their parents to know where they REALly are, when they say they are going to be somewhere else.:) simple enough, but nooooo we all know criminals have more rights than the non criminals. In fact, every single detail would help parents to become aware of where they are buying the alcohol, who the underager's are getting it from, and may even allow parents to find out whether or not any store clerks are turning their heads when they see a group of underager's hanging at the store. it's not rocket science, if you want your teens off pills and alcohol, you'll need to get involved, and I don't mean involved by being their "Enabler" which is in most cases here in Bennington and surrounding metro area. Parents turn their heads, "oh we did that as a kid too" ...they say ...yup, then what happens when YOUR kid is the next one to die in a car wreck hmmm? you're going to find someone other than yourself to blame, is what you'll do. Is THat fair?...yeah, i know ....blah, blah, blah, right? well, do nothing about it and you'll have that, just keep in mind you're partly to blame when you take someone else to court for blaming them, and trying to get THEM killed to make up for your lose. do what's fukin right and it won't happen. We'll all be happy, you think I wanna hit someone on the road...crossing outside the crosswalk at night, raining, their drunk and underage, then i gotta' live with that?....keep your kids off alcohol and pills, so i don't have to worry so much.:)

GMB - drop the hypocrisy. Given the style of your rant, I would surmise you probably were drinking legally at the age of 18, and likely had a serious problem with it. Nothing worse than the holier-than-thou preaching abstinence after their own profuse indulgences in such.

College kids having some beverages, stop the presses. What a major difference between how these types of situations are handled in Bennington verses Burlington.

Drinking under the age of 21 is illegal. Supplying alcohol to individuals under 21 is illegal. End of discussion.

The people who were busted were 20 years old. It is irrelevant if they are in college or not.

What would happen if those 20-year-old "college students" (or any of the other 100 beer party participants) went for a drive after their "party" and had a fatal accident to themselves and/or others? This is one of the reasons why the drinking age is set at 21.

I have no sympathy whatsoever for any of the busted "beer partiers".

Does drinking by under-21's happen? Yes. Is it illegal? Yes.

Period.

Just because WE did it growing up, doesn't make it legal all of a sudden, and OBviously our kids today have more to lose from it than we did, laws weren't as stiff then and teens then, knew when to stop....today's teens learn by example, from their peers and parents, that's why they don't know when to quite.:)

anything else I can help you with today? hmmm?

soapbox?...what the heck is that?...anyway, I didn't create this melodrama, I'm commenting on it, and
... fyi, my record is clean, my license is clean, I have no DUI's or felonies, probably be"CAUSE" I don't drink. So I guess you'll not ever hear me say " I didn't know what I was doing, I was drunk" <--- lamest excuse EVER!...everyone, including EVERYone who is drunk, knows exACtly what they are doing, and and are simply "drunk-brave" enough to do it, then the next day they all use "being drunk" as an excuse to "get away" with what they have done, that right there, is gettin' old, and the judicial system needs to address that, but they never will, and therein lies the problem, they WANT to keep you fools in the system, keeps 'em off the unemployment line duh!

...opps, almost forgot...learn from it?...our kids are not learning from their mistakes, you'd be hard-pressed to get them to hold themselves responsible, when the parents have done what they can to have raised them properly, it's up to them now, not their parents, to make any "right" decisions, their parents are either there to help try to keep them on the non-criminal path, or "enable" them to keep screwing up.(unfortunately, this is a really big problem locally)...some parents don't even realize they are enabling, others just don't want to admit it, it gets them out of their hair, so they don't have to deal with it, as parents also feel that they raised them for 18 years, that's enough, they should know what to do and what not to do by now, and I agree.
What kids DON'T get is:...they don't feel it's "screwing up"..even if it's a law they are breaking. <--..especially if they are "of age" so now they just need to grow up and realize what the "right" decision would be. 17 y/o's voting?...wow, mistake number ...how many?

How does anybody survive in Europe or Canada where the legal age is 18 or less? By your logic, there must be dead bodies everywhere in the streets. It's great to know that all of Bennington's problems are solved and this is all the PD has to worry about.

Yep you magically hit that 21 year old mark and never have to worry about getting in an accident again. It only happens to people underage and drinking.

God, please reword your sentence because it makes absolutely no sense.

Drinking Party Busted Up

HA! Amateurs, that's why you go out to the boondocks where cops don't come around as often. Of course this is Vermont aka Woodchuck country, the cops have nothing better to do than to bust beer bashes and weed parties.
