Anyone who believes -- or heaven forbid, states -- that homosexuality is wrong or unnatural, is labelled a bigot.
This demonstrates the true nature of "liberals." They never were interested in what was right, or true. They never cared about freedom of speech, or the protection of the citizens from the govt.
I feel sorry for all who fell for the "liberal" propaganda from the 1960's to the 1990's. It was a sad and frustrating time, and it's too bad there are still so many dishonest, irrational, unreasonable people out there today.
Fortunately we are turning the tide. Gays are welcome and should feel safe and respected. But they also need to understand that they are (unfortunately) damaged with an unnatural tendency, picked up sometime in childhood due to not getting certain needs met.
Isn't "liberal" a label also? Now just what is the word you would use to describe someone who denies another person's humanity by disrespecting who they are at the core of their being? What qualifications do you have for the opinions you stated about how someone becomes "Gay"? If you really want to know something about how someone becomes gay, all you need to do is ask a gay person and they will tell you.

I agree. I also completely disagree that homosexuals are born gay and stay gay until death. I have a friend right now who was gay for a long time and thought he couldn't help it. Then he realized that he was confusing being gay with not yet meeting the right woman. He is now married with children and guess what, his wife used to be a lesbian. People are being told that they're gay and to stop fighting it. It's possible they are being misled because it's easier to say that's just the way I am than it is to work on it.
Are you familiar with the Kinsey Studies done in the 50s under a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation? Kinsey found a rather large number of people who were bisexual to one degree or another. He made a scale with homosexual (100% gay or lesbian) at one end and heterosexual (100% straight) at the other end. It sounds like the example you made was one of bisexual people. It is also interesting to note, that people who had undergone some type of "aversion therapy" still used same-sex fantasy in order to function sexually. Sexual orientation is not something that is black and white, there are many shades of grey.

Many of your points I completely agree with. I'm not sure that I agree with the straw man fallacy reference.
First and foremost, my intentions were not to offend. Liam had made some points earlier regarding normal vs natural. My response was to offer a couple of instances of natural occurrences that society is currently trying to correct or accommodate.
My responses relative to natural selection are based on genetic promulgation. If the basic responsibility of species is to further the species, then homosexuality goes against this theory. So does standing upright and many other things.
My question is this:
Is Homosexuality an anomoly in nature, or is there a flaw in the theory of evolution?
Matt
Why does it have to be either?

Let's just assume for a moment that 10% of the world population is gay. There are over 6 billion people on this planet. Now, imagine for a moment that homosexuality suddenly vanished and everyone decided to have the requisite 2.5 children each. That's one-and-a-half billion more people, children in this case, bringing the total closer to 8 billion.

Do you honestly think the planet can sustain this? Do you think it just may be possible that there is a purpose to varying degrees of sexual orientation and that maybe it's neither an anomaly nor a flaw in evolution, but instead a safety stop?

Mind you, I'm not suggesting that this is the case, but it makes just as much sense as advocating a persistent 'flaw' in evolution or an ever-present natural 'anomaly'.

Long, long ago, when I was but a lad, my parents bought me some of the Time Life books regarding the mind and body. One of them had mention of an experiment with too many rats on a cage. As the rat population grew but the cage didn't, the incidence of various things including homosexual behaviour increased. This abstract also deals with homosexuality from a population perspective"

Extreme right-handedness, older brothers, and sexual orientation in men.
Bogaert AF.

Department of Community Health Sciences, Brock University, St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada.

Two of the most consistent correlates of sexual orientation in men are handedness and fraternal birth order (i.e., number of older brothers). In the present study, the relationship among handedness, older brothers, and sexual orientation was studied in 4 samples of heterosexual and gay or bisexual men (N = 944). Unlike previous studies, which have only observed an increased rate of non-right-handedness in gay or bisexual men relative to heterosexual men, an elevated rate of extreme right-handedness was found in gay or bisexual men relative to heterosexual men. The results also demonstrated that older brothers moderate the relationship between handedness and sexual orientation. Specifically, older brothers increase the odds of being gay or bisexual in moderate right-handers only; in both non-right-handers and extreme right-handers, older brothers do not affect (or decrease) the odds of being gay or bisexual. The results have implications for an early neurodevelopmental origin to sexual orientation in men.(c) 2007 APA, all rights reserved.

Thank you, Liam. I've read most of the studies. I was just trying to keep my illustration simple. ;-)

Poor Timothy. He is just an opinionated person who spouts what he believes based upon his personal prejudices with no credible support for his biases. Isn't it funny how he labels other people yet hates being called a bigot. Here is the definition: a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance.
