The district still cut 24 positions last year and is running on minimum staffing. They called teachers back but people retired and people found jobs other places. BVA absorbed resolve and life skills that saved staff jobs as well. The amount of money closing a building is substantial and will save the district money because of declining enrollment. You have to remember positions were still cut just the buyout saved teaching jobs.

Just for information to those who have been following this thread innocently, it appears that this site has been tampered with. On the previous page 42,has anyone noticed why are lines 867, 869 and 879 have been deleted? The guilty party with the Ohio server which showed Columbus on one line, Dayton on another, plus Solon are no longer there. Something does not smell right and could possibly be a cover up.

For instance someone made a statement on the upcoming reconfiguration meeting and within a short time that comment was judged as clueless and disagreeable. We can't always agree but don't believe that individual was clueless. Let's wait and see. This is Jan. 7 and I for one do not believe that was a clueless comment. Heard that building WILL be closed and it came from 2 board members. With the Primary looming ahead the members who will seek reelection do not want the teachers against them if the board furloughs teachers so its very possible if not probable there will be no reduction on the teaching staff just as the superintendent said. Well see who's CLUELESS. As per last night's meeting, looks as if RMS WILL be closed and there will NOT be any furloughs. The recommendation only has to have the vote of the board and that will happen. Clueless, don't think so.

This is not the first time comments have been deleted. At the end of May last year there were several comments with the user name "You will do nothing" that refered to citizens who speak at meetings as whining bozos and to stay away from THEIR meetings; that their acid reflux was caused by boobs who wish to interfer with their brilliance, and alot of other non professional comments and initialized profanities. All of which sounded like comments from a board member. Most recently there were about 6 comments that are no longer there which belonged to the user name of a current board member. One who can't keep people's names straight, adds to comments, accuses people who aren't guilty of comments, etc. so dont know how she can be an effective board member. Think before you speak, Kim.

Speaking of last night's meeting what about the young man who commented on not closing the Rostraver gymnasium? The meeting was about cost saving and reconfiguration of the grades/schools as well as enhancing the curricullum. Credit where credit is due and the superintendent has to be commended. And this guy is talking about sports!! Nothing wrong with sports; I enjoy watching the young people compete but I'd rather see their test scores competitive. They certainly need turned up a notch or two. We are to be a combined middle school which will have a gym as well as the high school has one and if I'm not mistaken possiblly Marion has one, not sure. Where does this guy see the cost saving by opening the gym at Rostraver which would be heating, electricity, janitorial, and security services? You dont keep a building opened for recreational use. He said he was a graduate and former athlete; so were alot of other people. Accept the fact that there are other gyms to use in the district and deal with the fact that the building will be closed if the board's vote is unanimous. Our young people have to be prepared to earn a living and there aren't many from our area who have done so thru basketball.

I concur with Superintendent John Wilkinson doing a splendid job of covering many areas concerning the reconfiguration process. It was especially encouraging to see how motivated he was in getting the students to achieve a higher level in math. Thumbs up to the Superintendent!

I am a sub bus driver and the first response to my comment wil be "sour grapes" but u tell me why a female sub driver was hired when: She QUIT driving previously not once but TWICE. She lives OUT of the community Shes NOT a taxpayer to the district shame on the trans mgr for recomending her and shame on board for not looking at ALL the subs

surely U r aware who is runin 4 relection. 4 seats r up being Grata, Naylor, Patterson, & Bialon (he shuld have got the message last time from winin by the hair on his chiny chin chin). Hope the people realize u dont have 2 vote for 4 vote for only the responsible ones??? & Patterson isnt runin. Still think Whiteko would be great and I dont no anyone other than him runin & the 3 incumbents. Sure Bialon wil get a few people to run 2 split the votes and giv him a beter chance, isnt that right?

Just another thing to consider if NAylor runs again is that his attendance at the meetings is around 20%. Look on the BVA school website and look at the meetings this guy is always absent.

Know there was an important vote and he just Happened to walk in right after the vote was taken give us a break already. He had a cell phone why didn't he just call in his vote? But rather have him then four more years of Bialon or any of his newly selected peoople who wil run. Again i agree he'll have people running just to split up the votes.

Will someone tell me why he who is of questionable sexual orientation and has no children in our district not to mention who has hired his sister and sister-in-law when he was on the board years ago deserves to represent as a member of the board? I question why he wants involved!

I question why he wants involved! What does sexual orientation have to do with the type of job he does as a director? Just look at the other board members if you want to stand in judgment. Ringstad-Gray has no children in our district nor is she a property owner. I know she is not an incumbant in the Primary this time but what about her? And Bialon, who IS an incumbant is not only divorced like Ringstad-Gray (and remember the mess the Nusser marriage was in?)but Bialon can be found in every bar and club in the Belle Vernon area including the one that his "friend" bartends in and is now circulating a petition for board election in the primary. So why does BIALON want another term???

I question why he wants involved! Did you question when Kraft hired all his family? Think Patterson's daughter may have been hired before he was on the board. What about when Godzak was on the board and created a 90 thousand dollar position for his wife? Stringhill had his son in law hired and his neighbor's daughter. Can't remember if Jackson's sister was ass't principal during his tenure or not. and the list goes on. Research it and you'll see.
