How come when there was alot of talk about North Baltimore EMS was wanting to go to a full time station, That when the EMS gets a call (now)there is no EMS crews to make the run and they have to call Mid-County 120 or Hanco both about 15 to 20 min away, I mean i know it Vol. but still i know if i was having any kind of trouble breathing i for sure would not call NBEMS just cause of the fact that i dont know if they are coming and when i could wait 5 min for a crew to get to me now i have to wait 15 to 20 min for an ambulance froma diff town to save me ??? come on now ,,

AND

I do have one question about the police dept, are they tranied in EMS or First Responder?... just because i know for a FACT when the EMS gets call arcross the pagers that i hear the police call enroute to the call too and when they are on scene they seem like they are in control, agian i know if i was sick or etc i would not want police stand over me looking at me asking me if i was ok ... i mean come on Duh iam not ok thats why i called the EMS right ???.......

I have more to post about that subject (later date)

The deal with the EMS wanting to be full time is for that purpose. A volunteer department cannot guarantee a response because they are VOLUNTEERS you MORON. And police officers are first responders. Get a clue, grow up, and educate yourself before you talk. Having a VALID point makes it so much more interesting for the reader.

Bob is correct.

However, I don't see the need to sound nasty and call anyone names, although it is Bob's right to do so.

if the call comes in before 9pm your kinda safe with someone saving your life with the nbems but anytime after that hopfully nothing major like life threating happens after that because no one will respond.

Why dont you ask to see the police departments training records. Because I think you will find that most of them are not First Responders. This is a state certifcation and they dont have it. I would not want a police officer to come to me win I am already in distress I called the EMS and thats who I want. The police show up for what they cant do nothing so why do they bother.

Who do you think certifies a police officer? The State. Because it's a state certification that means they don't have it? As far as I'm concerned, if I'm in a life threatening situation chances are its either my breathing or my heart. At that point I'm not too concerned with who's giving me CPR just as long as someone is. If I'm ok to worry about it, then I'm ok to drive myself to the hospital and shouldn't have called the EMS in the first place. And on a side note it's "when" not "win".

Well it just goes to show how well you are educated about how the certifcation works. They do not get the first responder certifcation when they go through the police school. It is diffrent certifcation so I just glad that I dont live there. Where I live we dont have those problems I feel sorry for the residents.

No they are not first responders. No they do not get it in Law enforcement training. No they should not be there, and if so only for traffic control. Bob you don't know crap. Yes they went to a paid EMS for better coverage but it still is not much better. Yes if you can take yourself to the hospital instead of waiting on them to want to want to come. If you call one of the other ambulances it will cost you big time even with insurance. Oh yes it is so wonderful to live here.
