I think it would be easier to stop down there yourself becuase I can't find the number to the station and the number is probably for emergencies anyways.

i see the Fire department now has a new Ram truck to go along with the charger. Let's see the charger goes for around $40,000 the truck about the same. Plus they had to get the HEMI engine for both. the brakes alone cost 1,500 per axle,( I asked the dealer) then they had to get all the bells and whistles on them. The final cost to us taxpayers had to be near $100,00. If I see either one of those vehicles behind me I will not move over for them,( by law I don't have to.) With people going hungry and losing jobs, we don't need our firemen to buy these toy's with our money. They get enough breaks as it is, Taxes, a pension, buddy's with the police ie: no tickets, a gym a bar at all the fire stations. Can some-one explain to me why they need a bar at a fire house? that's my rant for the day.

NB - you are as clueless as they come.

While a blue light in a firefighter's personal vehicle is considered a courtesy light which does not give responders the right to run lights, stop signs, speed, etc. in addition to forcing other motorists to move over - it is a courtesy light, the chief's vehicles, presuming those are the vehicles you are b/i/t/c/h/i/n/g about, ARE considered emergency vehicles and when responding to emergencies with lights and sirens, you are required, by law, to give them right-of-way.

Yes the chiefs car I would get out of the way for. But not for idiots like you who must be one of those guy's who think because he has a blue light flashing in his windshield the whole world should stop for you. typical fireman view tho, you miss the point I was making. The spending of my hard earned money and my neighbors for 2 vehicles that cost close to $100,00. Really???? Please explain to me the justification for that kind of expense. Also why do you need a bar in a fire house? The fire house on Hale in north babylon had to ask for a loan to build it, one of the selling points the dept made was that it would have a hall that could be rented out and generate money. Well they never got the permit to rent it out and the only functions going on there are for the firemen only.

My father was a volunteer F.F. during the 50's & 60's at Hale Rd.. I remember the Christmas parties they would have for their children. The one room always smelled like beer. I thought that was a thing of the past but after reading the above posts, I guess not. I'm sure half the time my Dad shouldn't have responded to calls after throwing back a few. Not just my Dad either I'm sure. And in response to "North Babylon", unless you volunteer your time to a local Fire Dept. please don't knock them. You have no idea the training that is required (time away from family) plus the middle of the night calls, praying you get back in time for work. Everyone is too busy now it seems. I'm glad not everybody feels the way you do about not moving over for responders. Imagine if NO ONE moved over or gave them the right of way. Fires spread quickly, they don't wait for the dept. to show up, so any slow downs for responders puts an extra burden on those on scene who need help supplying water, dragging hose, etc. Please reconsider, your home may some day need their quick response.

also a former North Babylon resident. Our neighbor was a volunteer fireman (in the late 60s) and would drive like a lunatic when the siren would go off. He even ran over his kid's tricycle and dragged it about a quarter mile under his pickup before it finally broke loose - he never even slowed down to see if his kid was on it! As I recall, he ran with the station that was behind the old Carvel on Deer Park Ave.

Jealous much? Maybe you should think about volunteering. This way you may actually know what youíre talking about.
With the time spent training along with being away from family serving the town on fire and ems calls that ď pension ď of about 20.00 per year served is more of a stypend

I know this post is old and sorry I missed it when you first posted it.
Firefighters spend countless hours away from family running calls and training. As a reward of sorts we have occasional parties for members and thier families. We do not receive a paycheck so itís a little something to reward the membership. If you are attending a party where alcohol is served you would not be permitted to respond to calls.
Volunteer and become a member if you have what it takes

I can only hope that ď idiot ď with the blue light behind you that you wonít give the courtesy to is going to your home or relative. If he or she doesnít get there in time itís on you

You don't need to worry about getting out of the way for these phony firemen. They're probably just speeding to the beer distributer anyway.

The blue light is like the orange plug in the end of toy guns, it let's you know right away you're dealing with a fake!

I feel sorry for you. A very misinformed, seemingly uneducated person. There are far more volunteer firefighters in this country than paid. With the same training standards. To purposely put someoneís life or property at stake by telling someone to hinder a volunteers response should be a criminal offense.
One day you may need to call a volunteer department for an EMS or fire emergency and it would be a shame if they got there just a little too late.
I can only think that you were turned down when applying to volunteer and now hold a bitter grudge.
Are you man enough to leave your name and address? I didnít think so

First off my friend, most volee firemen are hardcore BUFFS, the type that sits on the inch and 3/4 struggling with 3 people on the line, puts the fire out from the exterior and smears dirt on his or her face for the picture with a quote such as,ď WHAT A FIGHT. WE SAVED LIVESĒ on instagram. Most of them pry before they try. Love to break shit, and most of all drink beer at the fire house. Its sad to say but i feel most of these guys should take a psych eval just to be a volee. On the other hand there is also a good group that fights a fire and stays quiet about it and goes
Home to his/her family. Still dont think these guys should eb wasting 100k on volee trucks. And they forsure should
Chillout with the buff lights in their personal vehicles.. so gay!

Lol. What would you really do if i gave you my address? Drink another beer in mommy's basement and whine some more on a cheap website?

I'm a real Firefighter, you card playing clown. You losers could only dream of having a professional "apply" to act like puttting out grease fires is 9/11.

Nevermind my address - if you agree to sign a waiver and agree to be filmed - I will buy you a plane ticket, and have a limo take you to my gym! "Real Firefighter KO's Fake" will go viral on YouTube.

Ps I promise not to crack your plastic badge.

Iím proud to say that Iím a paid fireman for the FDNY. Everyone knows that we firemen are true heroes, and the volunteers are total jokes. Itís like comparing the NYPD to a mall security guard. This is our career, not some side gig to make friends. That this clown would even dare act like the weekend ďfiremenĒ are held to the same standards as us is quite frankly insulting. They woudnt last one call in our boots. We are FIREMEN. They are car salesmen, school teachers, shop clerks, plumbers. FDNY are true heroes, and get paid to fight fires all day, not hang around some club house. Respect to all of the real firemen out there.

Ps volees get less than a third of the training that real Firemen rookies do. The fat chiefs tell them they get the same training, the same way their fat mom's told them they're handsome.

I'm glad to see support from my brothers against this keyboard hero.

Looks like we ran that weak loser Tpm out of town. Maybe now he is telling the NYPD that his 8 hour security guard class is the same training that they get!

He made a better point than any of us real Firemen about just how pathetic those volunteer chumps really are.
