Prayers of peace and blessings to her loved ones during this difficult time. So much loss at SC colleges over the past year...

I'm not up on my medical knowledge...how can they be sure she died of natural causes if they haven't done an autopsy yet?

Oh my goodness. Lord Bless! I can only imagine how my family would have felt had ANYTHING happened to me while I was studying abroad. I hope her family can find at least the smallest joy in knowing that she at least died doing something that many people will never have a chance to experience. My prayers for the family...

Why is this news! Is it because she is a USC student....? I doubt it. I think it is sad that she died but making the news, I think not. Making the obituary, ok! The news is for REAL news...people die every day!

Karen was a vibrant, colorful and beautiful person. She had a zest for life and was so excited and eager to study abroad. She would carry around her tourist book of Italy and plan where all she was planning to see. You had to know her to appreciate her. My condolences go out to her family and many friends who will no doubt miss her charismatic laughter and beautiful smile. I know I will. Rest in Peace, Babe!

It's not "natural" to die of natural causes at 21. Something strange here.

This is to "Myfirstpost"....I am sure that there are a lot of people who hope you change your name to "Mylastpost". If you don't think it is news, why did you take the time to read the article AND post a comment about it???

And dying from a as you term it "heart problem" is not classified as natural causes. It would be dying from heart disease or an embolism or an heart attack, etc. Just as if she died of cancer it would not be dying from natural causes.....so it is VERY strange for a 21 yr old to die of natural causes

Not quite sure how you define Real news, but this is a story worth following. This academic year, USC has lost several students to tragedies...all so young.
This Real news impacts her family and friends, but also the university and its study abroad program. It affects our relationship with Italy's study abroad program and brings up (once again) the issue of international safety.
For whatever reason you chose to post your remarks, I can only hope that sometime in your life you will be enlightened. And that will surely be newsworthy.

So many memories of Karen playing Volleyball for Bishop Feehan. Tall, beautiful girl. I use to drive the team to VB games. I am so saddened by this. So young, smart, and what a future she would of had. My daughter played VB with Karen at Bishop Feehan. She also attends college in South Carolina. Please know she is in my heart and prayers. I wish I could take away the families pain.
Love and God Bless,
